Hi <<First Name>>,

Welcome to the August highlights!

Another amazing month! We launched our Video Course: Investing in Regenerative Agriculture and Food! And so many of you have signed up and are participating!

We also published 4 interviews, so honoured to have had dr. Elaine Ingham on the podcast for a deep dive into the soil food web!

Thanks for listening, sharing and getting involved,
Koen

A series of currently 17 short videos (10-15min) plus downloadable pdf slides with our lessons learned after recording over 100+ interviews with investors, fund managers, farmers, scientists since 2016, always asking the question:

"how to put money to work in regenerating soils at scale and growing a lot of tasty food while doing so?"

Why healthy soils don't need rotations
Interview with Elaine Ingham, Soil Food Web

Topic: A conversation about nematodes, bacteria, fungi, who are "the good guys and the bad guys", why healthy soils don’t need rotations, how plants actually feed themselves and why you don’t need expensive chemical inputs that just benefit the input companies.

My thoughts:
It is quite rare to speak with someone who knows sooooo much about soils and challenges so many dogmas in agriculture. I was also very interested in her answer to the question: how would you invest $1b?

Building a fair farmers first marketplace
Interview with Jeroen Klompe, Soil Heroes

Topic: How one of the most advanced regenerative farmers (350h) in The Netherlands is setting up a fair farmers first marketplace to connect farmers with buyers of ecosystem services.

My thoughts:
I'm obviously biased (I'm an advisor to the company), but I really enjoyed this interview with Jeroen! Fascinating to hear more about his journey and why payments for ecosystem services are key and how he is setting up this company to make sure that this time farmers are actually a fair part of the system.

The role of the crowd in the transition finance for farmers
Interview with Thomas Kliemt-Rippel, Kulturland Genossenschaft

Topic: What is the role of the crowd in transition finance for farmers? Not just to speed up regenerative practices, but also for transitioning from active farmer to retirement and freeing up the land to the next generation (without selling out but still have a comfortable pension).

My thoughts:
As a retail investor I'm super interested in the role of the crowd in financing the speed up of the regenerative transition so it is always a pleasure to have Thomas back on the show! And we get super practical discussing the options Benedikt has to get the crowd involved on his farm.

If regen food doesn’t taste amazing and doesn’t make money it won’t go anywhere
Interview with Ed Byrne, SoilWorks

Topic: A conversation about scale and business and the key role of decentralised processing in regenerative agriculture with Ed, who has launched an investment firm first investing its own money into accelerating regenerative farming.

My thoughts:
Ed has a lot of experience as an entrepreneur and investor but is relatively new in the soil world. Which is great because he looks at the issues we face with fresh eyes and really pushes us to think about scale, business and returns!
