Positive Cases Continue to Rise in Missouri City

“We have surpassed 1,000 COVID-19 cases in the City, including concerning numbers at some of the nursing homes,” said Mayor Yolanda Ford. “These increasing numbers should be a reminder that the virus hasn’t gone anywhere, and we need to make sure we continue to stay vigilant and follow the safety guidelines below.”

MCTX to Get $3.7 Million in CARES Act Funds; Residents & Businesses Encouraged to Complete Survey

As part of the federal government’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), a Coronavirus Relief Fund (the Fund) was established to make payments for specified uses to states and certain local governments. From the Fund, Fort Bend County received $134,262,393 from the State of Texas and Missouri City is eligible to receive up to $3,763,760.

To further gauge the needs of the MCTX community, staff created a survey to engage residents, businesses and stakeholders in the process. Individuals are encouraged to complete the online survey and share their input on the proposed projects.

The City has more than 60 Home Owners Associations and there is an HOA Liaison who serves as the bridge between the City and the HOAs. Last weekend, Councilmember Emery recognized the Missouri City Farmers Market Partners team as part of the “National Farmers Market Week” for beginning the concept in the City. The group usually meets weekly at the Sienna Annex parking lot.

Council Approves Ordinance Amendment on Offensive/Racially-Insensitive Street Signs

Turning the page on an offensive and racially-insensitive part of Missouri City’s street naming history, City Council approved an ordinance amendment that addresses this issue, at their Monday, Aug. 3 Regular Virtual Meeting. Infrastructure News

TxDOT Contractors have almost finished planting trees on the medians along the Texas Parkway/Cartwright Road Corridors and are staking them in place. Weather permitting, they will begin planting additional small shrubs and plants along the roadway in the upcoming weeks.

Citizens Invited to Share Input on Art in Public Places

To continue beautification throughout the City, the MCTX Art in Public Places Program is undergoing an initiative to gather input from residents and local artists to increase the artwork in the community. For more details and to take the survey, visit theCity Website.
