Dear Wildcat Families,
As you know, the physical and emotional safety of your children is my highest priority and the highest priority of our LSC. With that in mind, last night our LSC voted to retain the School Resource Officer (SRO) program at Lake View. No matter what, we are committed to building a safe and supportive environment for our community, and we believe the SRO program is valuable to ensuring our students are supported in an emergency or crisis situation.
One item that came out in last night's discussion--based on the survey conducted by our students--is that the vast majority of LVHS students have little or no interaction with our school's SRO. I will be working to ensure our students know and have positive relationships with our school's SRO, and I commit to supporting these relationships on an ongoing basis. Every member of our community should feel safe and welcome at LVHS.
Thank you all for your support, and I look forward to partnering with you this coming year. Please reach out to me at pjkarafiol@cps.edu if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Paul J. Karafiol, Ed.D.
