Board of Region Ministries Update
Strength for Today - Hope for Tomorrow

2020 M-ABC Region Biennial Gathering

Mark your calendars for SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3RD.  Plans are currently underway for our 2020 M-ABC VIRTUAL Region Biennial Gathering.  This year we celebrate 50 years as an American Baptist Region serving churches in Iowa and Minnesota.  While we had planned an in-person celebration, the pandemic caused us to re-evaluate.  However, we are excited that the celebration can still happen ... God does provide.  This time it’s through technology.

Not only will technology bring our celebration to you, but also allow greater access to speakers and more.  The technology allows us access to speakers that might not otherwise be able to attend.  It will also let us listen to special music and participate in breakout discussion groups.  We also want to celebrate our history and this is one way you can help.  We need your help in gathering those tidbits of Region history and sharing them with of the planning committee, or sharing the name(s) of those Region “historians” who we should contact.

Watch for more details from your Biennial Gathering planning committee in the upcoming weeks.

Stay safe and may God bless you,
Dale Stevens, Region President and Rev. Jacquline Saxon, Region Executive Minister

World Mission Conference Live Stream Event 2020

1,166 Watched the Live Streams!! Recordings available on the IM website

Thank you to everyone who made the Live Streams so successful!  We are grateful to the global servants who shared about their ministries and the worship teams who provided music.

Not everyone was able to watch the Live Streams when they happened.  Whether you missed them because you were working, sleeping or dealing with a power outage – don’t worry! We recorded all 5 Live Streams and they are now available on the IM website. https://www.internationalministries.org/world-mission-conference/

We hope you’ll watch them again or for the first time.  Each is 30 minutes long – perfect for a Sunday school class or small group meeting followed by discussion.  The Live Stream recordings will be available on the World Mission Conference page for the next few months. We hope you’ll join us again for future virtual events.

Experimental Journey's Grants Available to Churches Wanting to Try New Things

Grants=Free Money!
Experimental Journeys
is an initiative created by Rev. Dr. Lee Spitzer that seeks to support innovative experimental project proposals that are focused on cultivating healthy relationships in order to impact the spiritual journeys of people who are not currently intentional disciples of Jesus. A concise description of the Initiative and the process for applying for a grant can be found in the attached PDF.  We welcome grant applications from any Christian ministry or church. The full announcement and periodic updates on Experimental Journeys may be found online at: http://www.spiritualjourneypress.com/experimentaljourneys.html.

ABC USA Officers for 2022 - 2023 Nomination requests:

It is time to begin the nomination process for the positions of ABC Officers for 2022-2023 – President, Vice President, and Budget Review Officer.  Please prayerfully search out candidates for these positions.  The NOMINATION/RECOMMENDATION and the CANDIDATE PROFILE forms for submission of names to be considered by the ABCUSA Nominating Committee can be found on the ABCUSA website at www.abc-usa.org/nominations-recommendations

The ABCUSA Nominating Committee has selected the category for ABC President to be Clergyman and the category for ABC Vice President to be Clergywoman.

The ABCUSA Nominating Committee is endeavoring to prepare a slate sensitive to the diversity in our denomination.

The NOMINATION/RECOMMENDATION form (Form #1) is used both for nominating a candidate and for providing a recommendation for someone who has been nominated.  The form is to be completed and returned by the individual making the nomination/recommendation. Please secure agreement of the candidate before proposing their name for this process.

The CANDIDATE PROFILE form (Form #2), and the sheet listing QUALIFICATIONS AND COMMITMENTS, should be given to the Candidate.  It will be helpful if you note (on the nomination/recommendation form) that you have given the CANDIDATE PROFILE form to the candidate.  Once the Candidate Profile Form, completed by the candidate, is received at the Robert A. Roblee Ministry Building in Valley Forge, staff will secure the necessary region, church and caucus recommendations. Since this takes some time, the earlier a CANDIDATE PROFILE form is received the better.  CANDIDATE PROFILE forms received after October 15, 2020 cannot be considered

Visit www.abc-usa.org/nominations-recommendations to find the NOMINATION/RECOMMENDATION and CANDIDATE PROFILE forms.

We will appreciate your sharing these forms with individuals in your area who could make recommendations to the ABCUSA Nominating Committee.

Thank you for your participation in this important part of the representative process.
