Hello <<First Name>>. Welcome to a new direction in discovering domain bottled grower Champagnes direct from the vigneron. In this offer, we have some new Glavier and Voirin-Jumel at pre-arrival pricing and the last remnants of bin-ends to put into a few interesting packs - all at a very special price.

Champagne Philippe Glavier - Cramant

47 parcels of Chardonnay spread across the Grand Crus of Avize, Cramant, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger totalling 4.4 hectares. Classic tank fermentation with full malo-lactic. Dosages are all at 5gm or less. A tiny producer focusing on the highest quality Chardonnay across top-quality vineyards.

Using a small 2,000kg pneumatic press allows greater selectivity and control of small parcel harvesting and vinification. 27 of the parcels make up the majority of the vineyard area and these are in prestigious Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger vineyards - totalling 75% of their production. So even though Philippe is based in Cramant he only has small vineyard holdings in Cramant. Why Cramant? His wife’s side of the family owns the cuverie and buildings in Cramant. So we should really regard Glavier as a Le Mesnil-sur-Oger producer. The style here is all about intensity and precision. These are not ‘pretty’ party wines. Theses are serious vinous masterpieces that offer a profound statement about their terroir. Vintage wines are only produced in exceptional years. In an effort to expand their business and alleviate some tax burdens, Champagne Glavier has become a Negociant Manipulant, with the desire to buy grapes from conscientious like-minded grape growers. Sadly this is not an easy task. There are some excellent grape growers in Cramant who are happy to sell to the big houses but not sell to their village neighbours and friends.

Champagne Glavier La Grace d'Alphael Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru    Pre-arrival $63.50

Pure and vibrant in style, this cuvée is dedicated to the angel of knowledge and light. Philippe purposefully ages this on lees for less time, to accentuate the chalky mineral overtones and allow the terroir to speak. Based on 60% 2017 and 40% reserve wines from 2016 and 2015. Dosage 5g/l. 25% Cramant, 34% Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, 23% Oger and 18% Avize. Vibrantly chalky and mineral, very precise purity. The blend here is slowly evolving with less 'fat' of Avize in the overall makeup.

Here is what Tyson Stelzer wrote on last years version
Philippe Glavier captures his aspiration in a bottle from the very first cuvée: youthful vibrancy and purity that articulate the mineral personality and seriously strict structure of the grand crus of the Côte des Blancs. A full straw hue, this is a savoury cuvée of apple skin and spicy pear character, cut with a line of vibrant grapefruit acidity. Purposely aged for the minimum duration on lees, it hasn’t had sufficient time to build integration and silkiness, which leaves a firmness and bite to the finish. Phenolic grip melds confidently with heightened, fine, salty chalk mineral personality that defines its core components of Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. It concludes with impressive persistence and confidence; a cuvée brimming with character and terroir detail, if not polish. 92 points

Champagne Glavier Genesis Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru    Pre-arrival $81.00
Genesis is subtly different from Alphael – with longer lees time – large-scaled and intense but with great length and elegance. Based on 63% 2015 with 37% reserve wines. 16% Cramant, 40% Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, 19% Oger and 25% Avize. Dosage 4g/l. A different vineyard selection and longer time on lees ramps up the weight and power. Majestic Chardonnay with ultra-fine mousse. Round and saline with citrus and hints of floral. This leans to being more of a food wine. Palate staining!

Here is what Tyson Stelzer wrote on last years version
Richer parcels and a year longer on lees than Grâce d’Alphaël build a very serious and captivating representation of the four neighbouring grand crus that define the core of the Côte des Blancs. Spicy apple, crunchy nashi pear, tangy lemon curd and grapefruit contrast the subtle toasted biscuit and honey character of two-and-a-half years on lees. The chalk minerality of Le Mesnil takes the lead in a super-fine and salty structure, beautifully toned by the silky creaminess of lees age. It holds with grand cru persistence and impressive line on a long finish. 94 points

Champagne Glavier La Grâce d'Hakamiah Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru  Pre-arrival $78.00
Based on 2014 with reserve wines from 2013. 10% Avize, 40% Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, 40% Oger and 10% Cramant. Dosage 4g/l. A  new cuvee from Philippe designed to reveal more minerality and intensity. The blend here follows along the same line as the rare vintage wine in a more relaxed and open style. A little less Avize in the blend and a little more Oger compared to the Genesis makes a subtle difference. This is my favourite Glavier Champagne since I like the racier minerality of this compared to Genesis. .  VERY LIMITED

Champagne Glavier Rubellite Celeste Rose
Grand Cru  new Pre-arrival $77.00
Based on 2015 with reserve 40% wines from 2014. 6% Avize, 24% Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, 24% Oger, 6% Cramant, 28% Ambonnay Pinot and 12% Ambonnay rouge. Dosage 4.5g/l. A new more classic rose designed along a Grand Cru blend of Cote des Blancs and Ambonnay Pinot with Ambonnay rouge added for colour and perfume. Phillipe is using his new Negociant status to buy quality grapes from Ambonnay. He makes another rose based on Chardonnay / red wine blend which is nice, but this new more classic blend is very interesting, ticking all the boxes, sour cherry, minerality, smoky sherbet. VERY LIMITED

Champagne Voirin-Jumel - Cramant

A new shipment of our good value Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs is arriving. Even with the poor exchange rate prices are still very reasonable. I have known the Voirin-Jumel family now for 15 years and they have never exploited the brand market. They make Champagne to drink, not to invest.

Champagne Voirin-Jumel Tradition Brut
Based on 2017 with 20% reserve wines, from 50% Vertus Chardonnay and 50% Verneuil Pinot noir. Dosage 7g/litre. Voirin-Jumel used to make a 100% Chardonnay Vertus 1er Cru, but now this goes into their newly reconfigured Brut Tradition. This is a wonderful fresh Champagne with lovely citrus and minerals. New to my imports and I only have enough to put into a pack. More later in the year.
LANDED  $75.00 ONLY AVAILABLE IN PACK

Champagne Voirin-Jumel  Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru
Based on 2017 with 20% reserve wines, from Cramant, Chouilly, Avize and Oger. Dosage 6g/litre. The Chardonnay terroir speaks, Chiseled and steely, with citrus and minerals, hints of white fruits and floral. Very precise and elegant as always and excellent value. The creaminess of the Cramant component sets the tone for a fine and elegant Champagne.  Again this cuvee has been very popular – a new shipment.
Special Pre-arrival $54.00

Champagne Voirin-Jumel  Blanc de Noirs 1er Cru
Based on the 2017 vintage with 20% reserve wines, dosage at 6gm/litre is perfect. From a single 1.48 hectare Pinot Noir vineyard in Mareuil-sur-Ay – Les Carelles. Mareuil-sur-Ay is Billecart Salmon territory, and here the Pinot is always delicate and subtle, hints of strawberry and red fruits, perfume and spice. The novice Champagne drinker may recoil at the notion of drinking a 100% Pinot Noir Champagne, but this wine reveals the purity and elegance of the terroir and competent wine making.  In the scheme of things, this wine is way under priced. It simply delivers!
Special Pre-arrival $51.00

Champagne Voirin-Jumel Rose 1er Cru
A lovely perfumed 100% pinot noir saignee rose at a very reasonable price. Based on 2016 with reserve wines. Dosage 6gm. The rosé from Voirin-Jumel used to be blended style and I always found it a little simple and coarse, but now it has been elevated into a 100% saignée and completely changed my opinion. From a single vineyard in Mareuil-sur-Ay. A stunning pink at a bargain price.
Special Pre-arrival $57.00

Champagne Voirin-Jumel 2012
The 2012 vintage is a real success for the top growers in the Cote des Blancs - and Patrick Voirin has really delivered precise mineral champagne. I see some similarities with 2008 at this property. Hugely mineral with real purity and amazing elegance. Dosage is 4g/litre and the malolactic fermentation is blocked. Six years on lees has added some savoury toasty complexity. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tank. The low yields of 2012 add intensity and minerality.
Special   $70.00  (Also available are some Magnums of the Vintage 2011 at $140).

Champagne Voirin-Jumel Cuvee 555 Blanc de Blancs

Based on 2014 with 2013 reserve wines, dosage 6g/litre. The 555 is the ultimate flagship wine in the range. Fermented and aged in barrel with no malolactic fermentation.  The power and purity of the 2014 vintage play perfectly with the oak and malic acidity. From old vines in Cramant and Avize. Very limited. And why 555? This is their house address number in the main street of Cramant. And 555 is the distance in metres from the old well in the centre of Cramant. This recently featured in Decanter July 2020 magazine. Charles Curtis MW placed the 555 in the Cramant top ten - and this was against many big names. This is the flagship champagne in the Voirin-Jumel range and still at a very reasonable price.
