How can it be August already? With more than half the year gone, it seems like a good time to report a few numbers. We’ve placed 12 new Fellows since the beginning of 2020, which brings our total active number of Encore Fellows in the Portland/Vancouver area up over 30. You are amongst a special group of individuals all doing amazing work. Thank you!
One of the ways I offer support is through 1:1 coaching. I just had a great session yesterday with Sue Foley at EASA OHSU to help her think through the early stage planning of her Fellowship. If you’d like to meet with me at any stage of your Fellowship please reach out via email.

Encore Fellows Zoom Gatherings
The next Encore Fellows Zoom Gathering will be August 26th, 12-1pm. Mark your calendar! We’ll have a guest appearance from Ben Manny who runs the Intel Retiree Organization and I’m still looking for an Encore Fellow to present. Any volunteers?
In July we had a great session with Dean Warren who did his Encore Fellowship at McMinnville Area Habitat for Humanity. He was joined by their Development Director, Emily Grace Cropper-Russel. To quote Dean, “Most importantly the firsthand experience of helping the community on small understaffed projects has been eye opening, and a world of difference from being a small cog on a big Intel chip design project. Upcoming Events and Training Opportunities
The two required training classes that we are asking that all Encore Fellows take are:
The online SVP Partner Onboarding Class - During the class, you will explore the Social Venture Partners Network, SVP Portland’s history, and expectations and opportunities for your role as an Encore Fellow. This should take you about an hour to click through and listen to the short videos.
There was some confusion over the initial password used to set up your accounts. It is either ‘Password1’ or ‘Password1!’ -- I recommend you try both.
If you have any technical difficulties logging in, email me immediately so you don’t waste your time.
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion 101 - This training is for current SVP Partners and Encore Fellows. After completing this workshop, you will learn essential soft skills to engage in the nonprofit sector, and inclusively work in our Community Partner spaces with racial consciousness and cultural relevance.
These are live call in sessions with instructors, so you must register.
The class will only be offered once per quarter, so if you have not already attended, please plan on attending one of these two sessions.
Also, remember that during the time you are an Encore Fellow you are considered an SVP Partner, which means you are encouraged and welcome to participate in other events included above.
