Hi <<First Name>>

This week, because you are one of my regular newsletter readers, I am sending this short mini email. It's an invitation to my upcoming lecture: "Hidden Heroines: Canada's Jewish Women in WWII".

I know it is short notice! The event is happening on Thursday August 6, 2020 at 8 p.m. Toronto time.

Join me and my colleague Jennifer Shaw from the University of Western Ontario, together with moderator Caryn Lieberman of Global News as we take a fascinating look at the heroines who helped Canada win WWII.

Their contributions to history have never been recognized. Meet Cpl. Daisy Lazare, Sgt. Miriam Freedman, S/O Rose Goodman and Pvt. Esther (Bubis) Thorley, as well as the legions of Jewish women volunteers who raised funds, packed boxes, made sandwiches, and even built the bombs.

Pre-registration is required. You can register for free here:

I'm doing another 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain lecture. This time, it is on Friday August 14, 2020 for the Royal Air Force Museum in London, England and the Royal Air Forces Association's "Operation Connect." (Their ad for my event isn't posted yet but it will be shortly.)

The live stream is scheduled for bright and early Friday Aug. 14:
We begin at 11 a.m. UK time, which is
6 a.m. Toronto time.

Special guest: meet the son of F/O William Henry Nelson, the only Canadian Jewish pilot to win a D.F.C. in that epic campaign.
