Another full week of football has been and gone and it was nice to see some sun and the evenings getting lighter. Last weekend saw our U17 CUDL team pick up their first point in a hard fought game v Halswell. The WPL team put the early season 1-1 draw with Uni behind them with a comprehensive 7-0 victory this time around at Ilam field. The MPL boys had yet another tough battle with Cashmere Tech but went down 3-1 despite a magnificent goal from Anthony Jones. The guys head up to the top of the South Island this Sunday for a 1.00pm KO v Nelson Suburbs hoping to get back to winning ways. The big game in town is undoubtably the WPL 1st v 2nd clash, between us and Cash Tech at Linfield Park, 12.30KO. It’s not just a top of the table clash but it is also a Hawkey Shield defense and Captain Whitney Hepburn’s 150th appearance for the club. Let’s get a big Coastal crowd to Linfield and cheer the girls to victory.

Big congratulations to our WPL Captain Whitney Hepburn who makes her 150th Appearance for the club. Whitney is entering her 9th season with the team which has seen her win an incredible 7 WPL titles in the previous 8 seasons. A NZ National Cup winner with Coastal in 2013, Whitney has been capped over 50 times by Canterbury United Pride and represented New Zealand at the U17 World Cup in 2014.

We are very proud of you Whitney! Here’s hoping to add another title in 2020.

This week we feature our U17 Premier side. The team have been together for a few years now and after winning Division 1 as U14’s and U15’s the 2 previous years it was time for the boys to really take on the challenge of premier football. The team only consist of one genuine U17 aged player with the rest being U16 and U15, the youngest team in the league. It’s been hard graft for the team and coaches Tony Lake and Gary Bennett but the improvement has been incredible. The guys have turned 12-0 defeats into 4-0 defeats and 4-0 defeats in to draws picking up their first point v Halswell last week. The boys have shown a growth mindset like no other and are now confident and enjoying their football. Great attitude equals great development!

Keep up the good work guys #strongertogether
