Safety, Strength, Help
By Pastor Jared Miller
Economic crisis. Pandemic. Add to those the largest explosion in the history of this nation. Adding these three major crises together, and what does that equal? Trouble. And that’s an understatement—big trouble, or huge trouble better describes the situation.
In this midst of this great time of trouble, God’s Word promises us that He is our refuge and strength. He is a very present help for us in this deeply troubling time for this country. Here’s how the New International Reader’s Version puts it, “God is our place of safety. He gives us strength. He is always there to help us in times of trouble.”
Did Tuesday’s massive explosion cause you to fear? Did it shake you up—making you feel unsafe? Certainly, these are extremely troubling times for Lebanon—for all of us who live here. And so it’s important to be reminded of this powerful promise from Scripture—God is our place of safety. If you’re not with God, having a personal relationship with Him—don’t wait any longer. Run to Him—cry out to Him—He is our place of safety. He is our strength to help us through these multiple crises. Indeed, He will always be with us through the even greater times of trouble that will occur on this planet before the second coming of Jesus. Safety, strength, help—all found in our loving God who will one day deliver us from all the pain, suffering, sickness, and death of this world.
