Following our recent article on the DWP Barriers to Employment Initiative, we have heard from some organisations who are keen to meet and discuss further.
DWP and Jobcentre Plus are looking to work together with partners to improve the job prospects for people and communities facing barriers to employment.
This initiative is open to organisations operating in Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire with a partnership approach of at least 2 (or more) delivery partners. (This is essential criteria and a minimum requirement for the application).
With a closing date of Friday 21st August, we appreciate this leaves little time to come together, form a partnership and submit a project proposal.
Therefore, we have arranged a Zoom meeting on Monday 10th August at 2pm - 4pm, with speakers from DWP and Partnership for Procurement (P4P).

Home Energy Scotland (HES) is running a series of short webinars for their partners.
The free, impartial energy advice service (funded by Scottish Government) is keen to help as many people as possible who are struggling with energy costs as a result of COVID-19. HES specifically wants to share an update about crisis funding and other support available for those with prepayment meters, and how your clients can access this support.

Scottish Government is keen to develop understanding of how national measures and local effort are supporting those at risk due to COVID-19, to inform consideration of future support options.
They are reaching out to the third sector (including charities, social enterprises, community and voluntary groups) as partners in this work, for information on the kind of groups you have been supporting and the support you have provided.
They also want to hear your views on working with other organisations through this period, and what you think future needs might be.
The deadline for responses is tomorrow, Friday 7th August.

As part of their Come Forth for Wildlife project, Froglife is hosting an online free course on native Scottish amphibians and reptiles, and different survey and monitoring techniques.
The 2 day course begins on Tuesday 11th August at 10:30am, and will include an overview of identification and ecology, with time for a Q&A session. The second part of the course is a pre-recorded presentation for attendees to watch in their own time.

Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS; previously the Scottish Health Council) is holding their virtual Community Engagement in Primary Care event on Tuesday 20th November.
The event aims to offer opportunities to share examples of good practice, including learning sessions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear about how community engagement has continued as a result of COVID-19; HIS is looking for community groups or services to showcase their particular examples on the day.
Stories will be presented as short video case studies prepared before the event, and a live Q&A session with the volunteers during the event.
The deadline for potential stories is 5pm on Thursday 20th August.

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, all third sector forums held at our office are cancelled until further notice.
Instead, the next meeting of the online COVID-19 Third Sector Response Forum takes place on Thursday 20th August, 1pm – 3pm; Zoom joining details will be released shortly.
The meetings are currently focusing on recovery and renewal. Minutes of previous meetings are available on the dedicated forum webpage, along with any additional documentation.

Foundation Scotland has announced that their Response, Recovery and Resilience Fund has re-opened for applications, with grants of £1,000 - £5,000 available to support constituted third sector organisations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organisations must have an annual income of less than £250,000 to be eligible, with a bank account in the name of the group.
There is no deadline, but organisations are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
Foundation Scotland is also working in partnership with Crown Estate Scotland to help deliver their Community Capacity Grants Programme. The programme has awards of £10,000 - £50,000 available for coastal and rural communities across Scotland.
The deadline for expressions of interest to the Community Capacity Grants Programme is 12pm on Monday 12th October.

The next Forth Valley Social Enterprise Network (FVSEN) meeting will take place via Zoom on Thursday 20th August, 10am – 12pm. Existing members will receive an email with Zoom details.
FVSEN offers peer support, networking and signposting opportunities, and provides space for members to share their experiences and support around running their social enterprises during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
All social enterprises and enterprising third sector organisations in the Forth Valley area are welcome.

Falkirk District Association for Mental Health (FDAMH) is currently recruiting a Mental Wellbeing Practitioner.
The position is 35 hours per week with a salary of £26,800 per annum, and year’s fixed contract.
Applicants should have considerable and demonstrable experience of providing holistic, therapeutic, cognitive behavioural based models of support to people experiencing reduced psychological wellbeing.
