CONGRATULATIONS!
Jason Delborne, professor of Science, Policy, and Society (FER) and GES Center Executive Committee member, has been appointed Interim Director of NC State’s Program in Science, Technology, and Society, which is an undergraduate major and minor serving over 250 students. Jason is replacing Matthew Booker, a GES Affiliate who is on leave extended at the National Humanities Center.

While the presence of antibiotic-resistant plasmid genes in beef probably does not pose a direct threat to consumers, according to Jennifer Kuzma, a professor of science and technology policy and co-director of the Genetic Engineering and Society Center at North Carolina State University, it does raise the possible risk of introducing antibiotic-resistant genes into the microflora of people’s digestive systems.
