MTHEMBU IS ALL GEARED TO TRAVEL INTERNATIONALLY TO COMPLETE HIS PHD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GRONINGEN
Alumnus Lungani Mthembu is ecstatic to be able to follow his academic dream to travel to the Netherlands in September 2020.
He will pursue his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and will be going to do research at the University of Groningen, in the city of Groningen, upon being awarded a four-year Doctoral scholarship from the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa and the Netherlands Universities Foundation for International Cooperation (NUFFIC).
The chemistry graduate is specialising on Nanomaterials synthesis, characterisation and application in the health industry.
DUT’S RUGBY TEAM SECURES A SPOT IN THE FNB VARSITY SHIELD
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Rugby team is ecstatic after its dream of qualifying for the FNB Varsity Shield has finally become a reality.
The team has made it to the list of varsity teams who will be participating in the eagerly awaited rugby tournament, the FNB Varsity Shield 2021, set to be held next year.
Head of DUT Sport Administration department, Bongani Yengwa expressed his gratitude to all the people who have been involved with the DUT Rugby structure.

DUT’S THOMAS IS SELECTED FOR THE HUAWEI SEEDS FOR THE FUTURE PROGRAMME
Making the Durban University of Technology (DUT) proud is the super-talented Rydell Tyrone Thomas, who has been selected to represent Information Technology (IT) and DUT on the prestigious Huawei Seeds for the Future 2020 Online Programme.
Together with the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, Huawei South Africa put out a call for students to apply to join the Seeds for the Future 2020 Online Programme.
Seeds for the Future selects the most exceptional Information and Communications Technology (ICT) students together to study the latest in technology. Normally, the students chosen would go on a two-week trip to China, however with the COVID-19 pandemic, the selected students will participate in an interactive online course for the 2020 programme.
DUT’S EMPLOYEE WELLNESS PROGRAMME ASSISTS DUT STAFF ON WAYS TO MIND THEIR MENTAL HEALTH DURING COVID-19
The Employee Wellness Programme (EWP) at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) has been working around the clock to ensure that the university staff is coping mentally during the COVID-19 lockdown.
EWP feels it is important for the DUT staff to mind their mental health during COVID-19.
Clinical and consulting psychologist, Nozibusiso Nyawose is working with DUT in facilitating webinars to help the staff of the University cope and deal with problems that came with the COVID-19 lockdown.
