Academic Writing Workshop - the first, the best

We took our first IB Academic Writing Workshop this week - but definitely not the last one. The workshop is organized to introduce the IB student's critical thinking and analysis, and it seeks to develop IB their awareness of research-based academic writing. Participation will include note taking, individual, pair and group work - bring their A game!

Participants had a very exciting week: They explored lots of different essays structures and the techniques used to formulate each type and refreshed the student's established writing skills while reflecting and thinking critically about their past, present and future role as an academic writer.

The final day will be focused on the construction of an airtight essay with the assistance of the student's workshop advisors. By the end of the day they will be proud of what they have accomplished and use it towards their future success in the IB and beyond!

Everybody let's rock!

In our Rocky and tram camp, the participants learn how to work as part of a team, develop a greater sense of trust and cooperation, and make lifelong friendships.

There are many reasons parents choose the dance classes - for the health benefits, to expand their children's creativity or simply because they love the art of dance. But, most importantly, dance classes are fun! During the academic year, the students can register for Rocky classes after school.

Welcome, First Graders!

To make the first days of the 1st grade the most pleasant experience, we traditionally organized the Preparatory Camp for the 1st grade students.
We planned a very exciting one-week preparatory program for the students with funny tasks, where the emphasis was on getting acquainted with future classmates, teachers, building, devices and task types and adjust to the learning style through games, songs, puzzle and riddle, research tasks and adventure activities.

From kindergarten to school - A transition for parents as well

There are many ways parents can help their children become successful students.

1. One way is to be conscious throughout the transition. It might help to think through these questions beforehand as parents, so you can see clearly when it comes to your family supporting the new student.
What is your overall opinion and attitude towards schools, learning, education systems?
What are your predictions, expectations, standards for your child’s performance?
What are your perspectives on success and failure?
When would you be satisfied with the transition?
What are your own experiences with schools from your childhood and young adulthood?
What kind of role do you plan to play in your child’s school life?

2. These are the fields parents’ help can be extremely helpful during the first school year:
You can help maintain the healthy proportion of learning and playing.
You can help to source and maintain motivation, enthusiasm, willingness towards school.
You can teach life skills that are useful in the school: self-management, self-motivation, social skills, taking responsibilities.
You can make sure school performance is never the condition of parental love and acceptance.

3. If students, families and teachers work well together, by the end of the first school year your child starts building (among others):
A positive Attitude towards school work, mental and physical efforts
Sense of responsibility
Self-awareness
Self-confidence
A growth-focused attitude towards challenging situations (success or failure, anxiety or taking up to challenges, active or inhabited)
Comfortable social relations and roles.

Good luck, Virág!

You may know that our Director of Admission and Marketing, Ms Virág Kiss is expecting a baby and now she says goodbye from the school.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank Ms Virág for her excellent, conscientious work, her dedication to students, parents and her commitment to our institution! By all accounts, being a parent is one of life’s greatest joys. Virág, may every day of your maternity leave be as bright as the sun.

PRESCHOOL CORNER
How we get ready for the next year?
Summer is colorful for teachers as well! We spend time with family, friends and keep some time for relaxing to be fresh and start the new year with full of energy. At the same time, we are preparing the next preschool year in many ways!
For example, we are looking for new field trip places together that we can explore with our students during the following school year.
In the Preschool, we had summer camps during the whole summer so we had the opportunity to keep in touch with our families and meet new students.
During summer one classroom has been renovated and we already started to decorate all around and now the classrooms are getting ready to welcome our students!
We are looking forward to seeing you in Preschool on the first day of New School Year!

OUR SEK / IES PEERS AROUND THE WORLD

Day and night

Our daily routine is related to day and night. We made plans according to the period we are in. Night and day are vital to our lives and we could not understand our world without them.

To experiment this new information and understand why our day is divided into these two periods, Prekindergarten C students had the opportunity to learned about the rotation of our planet Earth on its axis and why one day has 24 hours.

We finished this theme creating "Day and Night" pendant.
