Roadway paving and sidewalk demolition work move south along Delridge Way SW

What to expect the week of August 10 We are currently working in all three zones at the same time, from north to south on Delridge Way SW. While the work zone shift is occurring you will see No Parking signs go up towards the southern of the work zone and parking restored in the northern end of the work zone.
In each of the three work zones, travel lanes will be generally be reduced to one lane in each direction with restricted turns and from time to time you may expect flaggers to be operating one lane at a time. Please follow posted traffic signs.

Several private contractors will be working intermittently through the night to install utilities ahead of our roadway paving. This work is for private developments and is not related to the Delridge Way SW – RapidRide H Line project. We will notify the community in advance for any night work related to this project.
Upcoming closures
Additional temporary weekend street closure at SW Genesee St and Delridge Way SW
This upcoming weekend August 7 – 9 and next weekend, August 14 - 16, please expect no through access to Delridge Way SW from SW Genesee St while crews reconstruct half of the intersection
SW Genesee St will be closed between 25th Ave SW and Delridge Way SW. Drivers will not be able to cut through to Delridge Way SW.
The closure will be from Friday at 9 AM to Monday at 5 AM
Work is scheduled to end by 10 PM on each night, though we have obtained a noise variance permit in case we need to work longer hours
Local access to SW Genesee St will be maintained from SW Avalon Way
Drivers will need to detour at SW Andover St or SW Findlay St to get to and from Delridge Way SW
Route 50 will detour from Delridge Way SW to SW Avalon Way. Please visit King County Metro’s website for more information on rider alerts
Sidewalk closures and detours between Sylvan Way SW and SW Webster St
We are continuing to demolish and pour concrete at the sidewalks between SW Orchard St and Sylvan Way SW
After that work is completed, we will move south and begin demolishing the sidewalk between Sylvan Way SW and SW Webster St
We will begin this work as soon as the week of August 17
The sidewalk on the west side of Delridge Way SW is closed for construction. Please follow posted detour signs.
People walking will need to cross at the marked intersections at SW Myrtle St or SW Holden St
Access to some driveways at or near the SW Orchard St intersection may be impacted. Businesses will be open during construction and access will maintained at other driveways.
If you experience issues with your water service during construction, please contact Seattle Public Utilities’ 24/7 service line at (206) 386-1800.
REMINDER: Delridge Community Center parking lot and SW Genesee St closures this weekend
Driveway closure for the northern parking lot at the Delridge Community Center from Friday, 8/7 at 6 PM to Monday, 8/10 at 5 AM
This weekend, we will begin demolishing and rebuilding the driveway into the parking lot entrance between SW Genesee St and SW Oregon St
People driving will not be able to access the parking lot for several weekends starting Friday, August 7 at 6 PM. You will be able to access the parking lot on weekdays.
Please plan to park in the southern parking lot near SW Alaska St during our closure or utilize on-street parking
You may access this parking lot by taking 26th Ave SW to SW Alaska St
Temporary SW Genesee St closures begin this weekend

Ongoing closures
Temporary driveway closures near 21st Ave SW and Delridge Way SW
Expect intermittent delays to driveway access. Driveways will be covered with a steel plate when work is not occurring.
We will work our way south towards SW Thistle St in the next few weeks. Properties will be notified in advance of this work occurring.
Continued pipework near the Longfellow Creek Greenspace
We have moved south to 23rd Ave SW. Expect intermittent impacts to roadway access during work hours.
The roadway will be covered with a steel plate when work is not occurring
People driving may enter and exit the neighborhood from SW Willow St to avoid travel delays
We will remain in the area to connect underground pipes. Please continue to expect construction activities in this area.

Zone A (West Seattle Bridge to SW Findlay St)
Concrete work for bus pads switching to the west side of SW Andover St
Demolition work for the existing bus pad will begin Monday, August 10
Expect hammering, dust, vibration, and truck traffic
Paving work from SW Charlestown St to SW Dakota St
Foundation and sidewalk work will begin Monday, August 10 and last approximately 2 weeks
Demolition and paving work on both sides of Delridge Way SW
We will continue demolishing the roadway on the west side of Delridge Way SW between SW Genesee St and SW Alaska St. This work will continue through the week of August 10.
Beginning as soon as Wednesday, August 12 We will begin demolishing the roadway on the east side of Delridge Way SW between SW Genesee St and SW Alaska St
Traffic will be switching to the west side of Delridge Way SW as we work in the roadway
This work will be loud. You can expect hammering, dust, and vibrations during this work.
Driveways on the east side of Delridge Way SW in this area will be temporarily impacted while we complete this work
If you need your car in a timely manner, we recommend parking on side streets. Otherwise, please be prepared for delays and plan to connect with crews onsite to coordinate access.
Access will be maintained when we are not working directly in front of your driveway, either through steel plates or a gravel ramp
We will provide notice in advance if your driveway will be impacted
This work is anticipated to last through the week of August 17
Throughout August, we will be paving the roadway throughout Zone A as we complete demolition work. Please follow signed detours and updated traffic patterns.

Underground utility work between SW Hudson St and Puget Blvd SW
Beginning Monday, August 10 we will install underground storm pipes. This work will last approximately 2 weeks.
You can expect construction impacts similar to other underground utility work in the area.
Zone B (SW Findlay St to north of SW Orchard St)
We will move south and start demolishing the sidewalk between Sylvan Place SW and SW Webster St on the west side of the street. Please follow posted detour signs at SW Myrtle St

We will begin working at the same time near the West Seattle High-Rise Bridge, SW Findlay St and SW Orchard St intersections and work our way from north to south.
What to expect during construction
Generally, we anticipate working weekdays between 7 AM and 7 PM. Impacts will include:
Noise, dust, and large vehicle traffic
Temporary construction parking restrictions for weeks at a time
Periodic traffic detours
Vehicle lane shifts around work zones
Temporary utility service impacts
Flaggers to help direct traffic
Temporary bus detours and bus stop relocations
As part of this project, we will be upgrading the road condition throughout the corridor. You can expect roadway demolition to look like the photo above.
