Do you have a story, essay, poem or other creative piece of writing you would like to share in print? Write On, Door County has forged a partnership with Peninsula Pulse, Door County’s weekly newspaper, to publish literary works in every issue.
Writers of all ages and experience levels with an affinity for the Door Peninsula are invited to submit original short stories, essays, poetry, fiction or literary nonfiction, including memoir. Creative essays of 200 to 1,000 words will be considered, as well as short stories up to 2,000 words. Longer pieces may be serialized over more than one issue. New works for this feature, as well as works written in recent years for Write On workshops or school assignments, will be considered.
A committee from Write On will select pieces for publication and Pulse editors will determine what will be published each week based on space availability.
Works may be grouped in weekly themes. Consider the following:

Going back to school, college or work during Covid-19

In honor of Labor Day: Write about your worst/best job.

Harvest time: Favorite foods or farm rituals

Anticipating autumn

Favorite natural spots in Door County

Banned Book Week/Freedom to Read Week is Sept. 27 – Oct. 3. Has a controversial book made a lasting impression on you?
