Freedom Families,

Yesterday afternoon we received a disheartening letter from the State Public Charter School Authority indicating that we would not be permitted to open in-person prior to August 24th. This letter not only functionally pushed back the commencement of our school year by one week, but cast doubt on our ability to sustain an in-person model amidst the current climate. Over the past months we have worked tirelessly to adjust to the ever-changing dictates and demands put upon us to ensure a viable and safe return to school. These have been stressful months with many readjustments as rules have changed again and again. We have made the changes and adjusted because we truly believe that in-person instruction is the best option for our students. Despite these beliefs, the current climate is simply too unstable to ensure continuity of instruction should we further persist in in-person instruction. We could not fathom returning to school in-person just to be shut down at the whims of a dictate at any given moment. Our students deserve stability and our working parents require it. As such, we will be calling an emergency meeting of our Board of Directors early next week for the express purpose of adjusting our Re-Opening Plan to delay the start of school until August 24, 2020 and proposing that the first quarter of instruction be delivered via online instruction. The meeting notice and agenda is available on our school website, www.freedomclassical.org. Our hearts break at this development and we do not pursue this course of action lightly. We thank you for your continued support as we work to ensure the safety and growth of our students, your children.

Cordially,

Freedom Classical Academy Administration
