Dear Calvary Christian School Families,

Thank you for your patience with us as we have been navigating through this difficult season. Information from state and county officials has changed multiple times a day making it difficult for us to finalize our plans for the school year. We know you are looking forward to your children returning to the classroom and we are looking forward to seeing their smiling faces every day. We want to give you an update on our plan for school starting on Wednesday, August 19th. On Monday evening, the Orange County Public Health Department released a waiver application for those schools desiring to return to on-campus learning. Our application was completed and submitted immediately. We anticipate having a response to our application by early next week.

There are currently two scenarios that would allow us to have a traditional start on August 19th:
  • The COVID-19 numbers in Orange County have begun to decline. If this decline continues for a total of 14 days, we will have a traditional start.
  • If our waiver is approved, grades K-6th will have a traditional start (with an option to participate in distance learning from home) while grades 7 & 8 will have the option to participate in distance learning from home OR come to school for on-campus support for distance learning.
We have developed a Distance Learning Plan for all grade levels that includes daily, live instruction with your Calvary teachers. Each grade level will have a set schedule for live instruction of all courses to provide students with a daily routine. We will continue to pursue all options that would allow us to return to on-campus learning.

You have the option to participate in distance learning from home OR send your child(ren) to our school campus to receive on-campus support for distance learning. Before school care will be available from 6:30 to 8 a.m. and after school care will be available until 6 p.m.

We know this is a lot of information to digest! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us! Our team has been working tirelessly to come up with creative ways to have your children return to campus while also providing support for those who desire to learn from home.
We will send additional updates over the next few days as information is available.
Please join me in praying for the CCS faculty and staff as we continue our preparations for the upcoming start of school. Our teachers are looking forward to returning to campus on Monday!

Blessings,

Mr. David Seidman
