All News is Good News This Week

I don’t know about you, but these days I sometimes feel anxiety even checking my inbox and feeds, fearful of seeing more bad news and turmoil around the world. By no means am I saying we should cover our eyes and block out important information, but I do think we need to take breaks to unplug, as well as give ourselves a dose of GOOD NEWS to balance out the tough stuff. So today, all our tidbits are posi-core, silver linings, lemons to lemonade, and inspiration. Enjoy!

📎 In your business…

When life gives you lemons… invent a man to make lemonade for you. This is the story of two women entrepreneurs who invented a fake male cofounder and learned some pretty interesting things:

🤯 In your mind…

Think freelancing is driving you up a wall? Think again, it may be keeping you sane. Why freelancing is good for mental health:

📝 In the classroom…

Fellow creatives feeling like you don’t know how to support the movement for racial justice? Here’s some inspo for you. Danielle Coke is giving away free social justice-themed posters to 200 teachers in her fundraising initiative dedicated to getting anti-racism artwork into schools across America. YES!

✔ In the voting booth…

A major issue not only in the US but in democracies around the world has been that traditionally dominant groups (think people who could always vote: white people, male bodied people, and the wealthy) are still dominating our representation in government. Well, guess what? A record number of Black women are running for Congress in 2020:

📆 In November…

Speaking of which, for our fellow Americans, just in case you haven’t done so already, get yourself registered to vote! The future is female, as they say, and we want to shape it together.

If you want to get even more involved and stay super up-to-date with politics in your area, we highly recommend checking out this online learning session with our friends She Should Run on August 20th, too.
