What works, when we can hardly work?

Many of us have struggled in 2020; some suffering illness or bereavement; others losing jobs; and all of us having our lives changed by the covid-19 pandemic.

Back in March we looked at what some WLI members were doing to keep operating. What has changed in the previous four months? And what can we do for the future?

Please let us know your situation. Has you wetland centre shut? Are you delivering materials online? Have schools asked for your help? We know that in the WLI network there will be sources of inspiration and comfort for other WLI members. We would like to compile a resource for you, sharing methods, contents, and insights. Please let us know your situation and thoughts in this short survey we have prepared.

Jobs at Eurosite

Our friends at Eurosite have asked use to share the news that they are recruiting two new positions. The network for Europe's natural site managers is recruiting a Director and a Project Officer. Find out more on their website.

Citizen Science Survey

The Citizen Science survey on the state of the world's wetlands is running from May to October 2020. Supported by WWT, WWN, and other partners, the survey is based on local knowledge of a wetland (rather than new experimentation) so may suit your public engagement at a safe distance.

Youth wetlands survey

The network Youth Engaged in Wetlands is running a survey to get an overall understanding of the involvement of people aged 18 to 35 in wetland conservation. Some of your volunteers or staff may like to participate.

The WLI team of Chris Rostron and me at WWT Slimbridge is still working one day a week each, and intern Adil Boulahia made it back home to Morocco last month. We are pausing the internship scheme while we regroup, but we intend to bring it back when we can.
