Our curbside service is bustling! Currently, this service is offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, utilizing the 4 unit locker system that is situated outside of the library’s front door. Helpful information about the service:

Using this service is easy, just visit our website for step by step instructions on requesting items and scheduling a curbside pickup appointment.

Items are not limited to books! Our DVDs, audiobooks and magazines - including new issues - are available for request. Interlibrary loaning from other libraries is now available, as well.

For our patrons who miss browsing our stacks, we have added the service BookSite to our homepage. Now you can browse featured titles organized by categories; in the linked lists, there is the option to search our catalog for availability.

Friendly tips regarding your requested items:

You’ve received an email notification that your book is ready to be picked up - if your notice does not include a link to schedule a pickup, go to our website’s Curbside Pickup page to schedule your appointment.

Your hold will stay on the shelf for 14 days, giving you sufficient time to schedule a curbside pickup. If you need more time, please contact us.

Returned items are quarantined for 96 hours. After that time, items will be checked in, removing them from your account.

Deliveries of interlibrary loaned items are quarantined for 96 hours. After that time, items will be checked in, generating a notice that your item is ready for curbside pickup.

You only need to schedule one appointment for the day, as all your items will be gathered together for your pickup. You can also include items for family members, just let us know in the note field when you schedule an appointment.

Emails with locker number and pin code will be sent by noon on the day of your appointment.

The 5:00 appointment of the day lasts until 10:00 am the following day. The last appointment of the week (which varies) lasts until 10:00 am Tuesday.

Book drop is open 24/7 (so you can return items on the sly…).

Orono Public Library Exclusive eBooks
Do you like using the free downloadable audio and ebooks through cloudLibrary but are a bit frustrated with wait time? OPL has purchased a collection just for Orono patrons! When you log in to your account you will see exclusive e-books and audios for adults, teens and children. We are adding titles on a regular basis so check back often!.
The cloudLibrary application is a way to browse, borrow, and read popular fiction and non-fiction eBooks and eAudiobooks. CloudLibrary is available on these devices: iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Nook devices, Sony, Kobo, and Android tablets and phones.

We regret to say that it won’t be soon. Staff members are currently working in the library providing curbside service as well as answering phone calls and email messages. Please feel free to reach out to us with any library related questions or issues. At this time, the library will remain closed to the public. This decision is based upon ensuring safe operations with limited staff. With one full time position vacant until September (Youth Services Librarian) and the part-time position currently without funding in FY21, it’s important that we scale operations to a level that we can consistently support and in a manner that keeps staff and visitors safe.
