Ocala hasn't seen this kind of home buying spree in many years for two main reasons. Supply and demand is way off, and interest rates remain lower than ever before. Buyers are still here just as much as pre-Covid and the seller's are laying low. Inventory this time last year saw 2,359 homes on the market. Now we have 1,543 homes for sale in Marion County, which represents a 34.5% decrease in inventory. Combine that with rates as low as 2.875% for a 30 year fixed mortgage, and homes are flying off the shelf.
