The Ohio Clean Marinas Team welcomed our new Program Administrator, Paul Dravillas in the fall of 2019 - please join us in congratulating him on his new position! Paul joins Ohio River Watershed Program Coordinator Heather Sheets and statewide Program Manager Sarah Orlando in executing the mission and vision of the Ohio Clean Marinas Program.

Ohio EPA Compliance Assistance
 
Ohio EPA’s Office of Compliance Assistance and Pollution Prevention (OCAPP) has created a new avenue for you to receive free and confidential environmental assistance with your regulatory questions. Monday – Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm you can chat with an expert for confidential assistance. To use this feature, go to Ohio EPA’s homepage and select the “Ask an Expert” icon.

2020 National Electric Code Updates
 
Ground-fault protection requirements for marinas, boatyards and docking facilities are being revised for the 2020 National Electrical Code. The GFP requirements were divided into three parts to provide clarity, according to the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.

Effects of Marine Debris on Tourism
 
Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Laboratory received a NOAA Marine Debris Program grant to educate visitors on South Bass Island about the impacts and prevention of plastic trash. Clean Marinas Program staff are partnering on the project to help with outreach to the boating community and learn about ways to help marinas with plastic reduction at their facilities.
