2019 AGM Notice
SATURDAY 12th OCTOBER

It is time for our Annual General Meeting. Please come and join us to shape the future of Permaculture West. All committee positions will be declared vacant and we would love to see some new faces on the team as many hands make light work! Depending on your interest, skills and time you would like to commit, there are different positions available. We would love to see you there!

We are a vibrant, progressive and committed volunteer based organisation and we need you on our committee to allow this essential and unique community of WA, to continue to spread the word and action of Permaculture to local groups and help influence it's potential on the future of our communities both metro and regional.  Please join us and show your support to keep PermacultureWest alive and serving our WA community.

There will be a motion to change part of our constitution to vote on.

Motion: Item 3 of our Constitution be changed from "Membership year commences on 1 July and ceases on 30 June each year. " to " Membership commences on the day a member pays the agreed membership fee and ceases when the agreed membership period terminates."

Post meeting we will chat over a shared afternoon tea, so please bring along a plate of food to share if you can.  Tea & Coffee will be provided.

Committee Roles

There are 11 positions available to those that are able to 'attend' meetings. NOTE: Meetings are now online/phone accessible so remote members are welcome. Meetings are held monthly at Perth City Centre (and/or if you live remotely via video conference or teelconference) and run for approximately 2-hours. All new comers are supported with a handover by the previous committee. If you've never been on a committee before you'll get all the support you need to find your feet.

Convener - Lead the association’s work in the direction & growth of Permaculture in WA. As this role is an Executive position, to nominate for this role you must have served on the committee previously. Responsibilities include chairing monthly meetings with support, be pro-active in the Perth community space, network and support peer groups.

 

Co-convener - Assist the Convener as needed. As this role is an Executive position, to nominate for this role you must have served on the committee previously.

Secretary - Coordinates committee meetings and take minutes. Assist committee planning and task allocation as needed. Leads documentation storage on Google Documents (online database of files) and other storage, electronic and hard copy. As this role is an Executive position, to nominate for this role you must have served on the committee previously.

Treasurer - Manages financial interests of the Association. Online banking accounts, invoicing, receipts, payments, yearly P&Ls and financial paperwork management. As this role is an Executive position, to nominate for this role you must have served on the committee previously.

Membership Coordinator - Handles memberships & inquiries. Our membership system is semi-automated, you receive an email containing all the required details check a bank for members payment, add their details entered into the excel database, and a welcome email is sent. This can be done as a batch once a week for the 2-3 new members.

Marketing & Communications Editor - Handles social media posts and message replies on Facebook and compiles the monthly eNews newsletter to PermacultureWest database by the 1st day of every month (or thereabouts).  Handles and responds to all inquiries sent to the news@ email address and liaises with other PAWA committee members for updates and inclusions in each monthly eNews publication.

Community Gardens Coordinator - Stays in touch with community garden groups to share information and bring feedback and comments to the committee.

Local Group Coordinator - Responsible for liaising with local groups, communicating necessary information to them and bringing feedback and comments to the attention of the committee.

General Committee Member (x3) - Assist other committee members with their roles as needed. A great place to start to get to know how it all works and what you might like to do.

 

Nominations

You must be a financial member to nominate for the committee, assign a proxy or vote at the AGM.  Memberships can be taken on the day but we prefer you to do it prior online.  For nominations and voting proxy forms please email us at info@permaculturewest.com.au.
