Coach's Insights - Men's Senior Footy
In a must win game we finally played 4 quarters of team football. The week started with coaches and players evaluating our performance over the first three games.
The result of this meeting saw a rugged Tuesday night session followed by frank video and whiteboard sessions outlining the way we wanted to play. Our Thursday session was upbeat and we headed into Saturday game determined to play good team footy.
The first quarter saw the Ainslie boys jump out of the blocks and by its end we had kicked 8 goals to zero. A great result even though we kicked with a solid four goal wind.
The second quarter saw the backs led by Jack Cuzner control all Tuggeranong forward trusts, only allowing them to kick rush points. At half time we held a 10 goals to 1 goal lead.
The second half saw us continue playing good team footy and at the end of the game we ran out comfortable winners. However the scoreboard wasn’t a true indication of the fight the tenacious Valley boys had applied throughout the game.
In a solid team effort our better players were skipper Henry Delves (5 goals), fellow forwards L Powell, T Faul, and defenders Cuzner and Ackland. Special mention to the two players who both made their debuts in Morfoot and Fox, who both contributed well to our first win.
It was also a great day for the Richardson family with the three boys Max, Hayden and Guy all playing together for the first time in an Ainslie senior team .
This week sees us finally get a game on ARO, and as restrictions ease we might see you at the footy!

Coach's Insights - Women's Senior Footy
Hoping to seal their first win of the season, the Women’s 1’s headed to Greenway Oval to take on Tuggeranong Valley. In what was shaping up to be a very wet game, the girls knew that Tuggeranong thrived on contested, scrimmage-dominant footy, and could not be underestimated. The team’s confidence and eagerness, however, was heightened with the return of vice-captain, Teigan Hawke, from injury, as well as the debuts of both Daniella Cecere and rising star, Olivia Seymour.
From the first quarter, the girls managed to dominate stoppages and keep the ball locked largely in their forward fifty. This dominance quickly manifested itself on the scoreboard, with the girls keeping Tuggeranong to just a single point for the entire game. Renee Friend, Georgia Clayden and Hannah Solly each combined for multiple goals.
In the third quarter, rain started to fall heavily, creating extremely slippery and muddy conditions. Through the sloppiness, however, a number of girls put on standout performances. Young gun, Olivia Seymour, took multiple contested marks and continued to position herself dangerously around the contest. Emily Warwick provided plenty of run and options off half back, whilst Teigan Hawke added invaluable leadership and intensity back into the side.
Despite the unfavourable weather conditions, the girls remained focused and earnt their first win this season. They will take this confidence and momentum through to next week’s game!"

Coach's Insights - Men's Rising Stars Footy
It was a frustrating day for the Rising Stars in our third round game against Marist. The team arrived at Marist to find Lindwall Oval under water across most parts of the ground.
In the end, we lost 16-15 in a game that was more like full contact soccer being played in a swamp. It was some kind of football, but just not as we know it. The ball was like a heavy block of soap, and from half way through the first quarter it became a sodden game of kick to kick, with each team having an occasional foray into each other's forward line. Every time we tried to actually play football - hit a switch or a 45 or a leading target - it just led to a turnover because of the conditions.
Great effort by the boys who all played hard and gave a solid contested effort in terrible conditions. Other than that, there was little else to take away from the game. Looking forward to some better conditions at ARO next week!

Coach's Insights - Men's 2s Footy
With the expected weather forecast, a slog out was expected with wet conditions forecast. However, we arrived to a relatively dry Greenway.
The quality inclusions to the line-up of Lachie Carter from Men's 1s saw us benefit from a skilled player and someone able to provide great guidance around the track. Lachie's performance was a class above throughout the game in its entirety, returning to his brilliant form late last year.
Beyond Lachie’s performance it was an all-round team performance with plenty of run and carry for the full four quarters. Some honourable mentions to
- the Captain for the day "Sauce" Phillips giving plenty in the ruck and showing his athleticism throughout the game,
- Isaac and Joe Bishop showing class through the middle,
- up forward Heath Beaumont clunking everything up forward and being unselfish,
- and Alex Ireland coming back into the side and being on fire early in the game.

FOOTY FACTS
In 1916, Fitzroy managed to win the wooden spoon and the Premiership in the same year. Only four clubs competed in 1916, due to World War I, with Fitzroy finishing fourth, or last, and then winning the three finals, to claim the premiership.
Michael Tuck has the most Premierships for an individual player with an amazing seven Premierships from 11 Grand Finals.
