Day 1: the Wheel – where the rubber hits the road – a glimpse into their daily lives

This segment of the population is young, newly interested in independent life, yet feeling the pull of family is still strong. For security, we are just referring to this group as young adults and avoiding identifying them more specifically.

If they do not call the City their home, then often coming into the City to start this new aspect of life is a challenge. Perhaps an uncle or aunt lives in the City and they have an opportunity to live with them being away from home. Others will live on their own but in a small room shared with several in the same stage of life. Where these young adults live might not be convenient to where they spend their time, so a bus ride 1 hour away commuting each day is the norm. If they have the advantage of having a motorbike, they are traveling crowded streets to get to their stations where they will learn each day.

Their schedules start early and their days end late with part-time jobs, sports, or heading to English language learning centers and working on projects with other young adults in their same area.  These ‘busy lives’ can pile a great amount of stress. They are conflicted by trying to live up to the expectations of parents and family traditions, trying to live up to new expectations brought by this life stage in the city, balancing these with time demands from jobs and new friends, and trying through it all to define themselves in this new chapter of their lives.

Our great desire is for them to know Jesus, whether it is by word of mouth, digitally with ads directing them to inquire about Jesus through social media, or by other means that God will use. Please pray with us for Community* to change lanes by knowing Jesus.

"Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven."" Matthew 16:16-17
  • Ask God to reveal Himself to young adults and who Jesus Christ really is, just like He did with Simon Peter.
