Let's try this a different way. Either some of you aren't reading my emails or I'm not explaining things correctly. These are simple, common sense rules...and it's not that complicated, but maybe some folks are visual learners.
This is the correct way to tie up at the docks. The proper orientation is shown for each slip. The #2 slip alongside the bridge can be used bow-in or stern-in.
This graphic shows four boats tied incorrectly.

From left to right:
  • Never tie up sideways to the dock.
  • Never tie stern-in at a finger dock. All boats tied to a finger dock should be tied bow-in ONLY or you could end up with your engine in the mud at low tide, and engine damage could occur.
  • Never "Block the Dock" with your bow pulpit.
  • Never tie stern-in at the first slip (near the ramp, alongside the gangway).
If anyone has any trouble understanding any of the above, we will be more than happy to give FREE docking lessons the next time you use your boat. Just come on down 15-20 minutes prior to your launch time and we'll show you how to do it. Docking, knot-tying, fender placement...anything you need to know.
