On September 16, fifteen members of the Youth Action Team began the tMHFA training in New Paltz. The training is being led by Board members Jesse Sarubbi, Elise Gold, and Mathew Swerdloff. The evidence-based program is intended to provide the teens with the skills needed to support their friends in the face of a substance use or mental health crisis. The training will continue over the next two weeks and conclude with a graduation ceremony on September 30.
Subsequent trainings will begin in October and be offered in New Paltz, Phoenecia, and other locations throughout the Hudson Valley and Catskills.
Thank you to the Hudson Valley Foundation for Youth Health for funding the purchase of training materials for this program. Thank you to an Anonymous Donor for funding training fees for the instructors.
