KCD Staff Still in the Field

It's been a challenging year that's required a great deal of flexibility and creativity to stay out and engaged.

KCD staff are still out in the field, masked up and socially distanced, to provide our conservation programs to the communities we serve.

Forestry Team members were out in North SeaTac Park in August to review progress on an invasive species control project being implemented by one of our Washington Conservation Corps Crews and done in partnership with Forterra and the City of SeaTac

So whether you're trying to improve your small wooded lot, improve your home's wildfire resiliencyrestore a shoreline, navigate resources for your farm, or just get your hands on some affordable native plants, remember, you don't have to go it alone, your local conservation district is here to help.

ICYMI - 2019 KCD Annual Report

In 2019, KCD planted 49,719 native trees and shrubs to improve habitat on King County forests, shorelines, and farms. Over our last 5 year work plan, we planted over 327,000 native trees and shrubs! We also improved just shy of 10 miles of shoreline and helped train over 3,000 people to become better stewards of our waters, soils, and forests.

Our 2019 report captures our work in 2019 and also wraps up our 2015-2019 program of work.

These winds, paired with the dry conditions in Western Washington, increase the chances of us having a large wildfire event west of the Cascades. We’ve already had wildfires spark up in and around Sumner, Enumclaw, Everett and other outlying areas of King County over the last few weeks.

Want to protect your home and community? It is never too late to prepare for wildfire.
