FineLine Scholarships 2020-2021

Dear FineLine Scholarship Families and Potential Scholarship Families,

FineLine is dedicated to providing training and performance opportunities for all children. We wish to continue to provide a performing arts education to students and families that do not have the financial means to pay full tuition for a child or multiple children while also supporting the needs of the school. Due to the pandemic, our ability to offer scholarships is very limited this year. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.

FineLine does not offer full scholarships for talent or need. Families will be required to make a monetary monthly payment that will be determined through our communications. Performance fees are not included in scholarships as FineLine is unable to subsidize these costs. Families are required to submit their tax returns or an official letter from their CPA for verification of income. Scholarships will not be accepted without financial verification. Please do not ask us to waive this requirement.

Our decisions are also based on how many children each family has enrolled in classes, the student’s enthusiasm and dedication to FineLine,  the amount of years in attendance at FineLine, and extenuating circumstances communicated by the family. Families living in New Milford are required to apply to MVPSOS for scholarship to support their tuition.

Requirements for 2020/2021:

1. Scholarship families are required to volunteer for at least one FineLine event per year per child.

2. Work study requirements will be postponed for the 1st trimester due to COVID19 guidelines. We will reevaluate as the year goes on. In the past, students are required to engage in work-study at the studio if they are 12 or older. A signed contract is required at the beginning of the school year detailing your work study duties. Mary Mercer and Scott Wise coordinate all work study jobs.

3. Ad sales have also been postponed due to COVID19 for the Nutcracker program. We will be brainstorming other ways to raise funds to support the school. We will reevaluate for Spring DanceFest.
In the past, Families were required to sell program ads in the Nutcracker and/or Spring DanceFest programs:

One child: 500.00 worth of ad sales.
Two children: 600.00 worth of ad sales.
Three Children: 700.00 worth of ad sales.

Unfulfilled ad sales will be invoiced at the end of the year. Ad sales forms can be found on our website.

4. Students ages 12+ with an instagram or facebook account will be asked to promote (via posts and stories) and advertise for the school as an ambassador.

5. Upper level dancers may be asked to assist/monitor in-person classes when a teacher may need to Zoom from home.

Scholarship applications must be received by August 10th with a completed registration form for each child. Applications received after the due date risk denial of scholarship funds since the allotted monies may already have been distributed.

It brings us great joy to be able to help families with genuine need and a strong desire to support our school!

Sincerely,

Scott Wise and Elizabeth Parkinson
