The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) will be big. Its data, too. About 20 terabytes each-and-every night adds up fast. Machine learning will help scientists make sense of all that data.

Machine learning engineer Peter Harrington is working with deep learning methods for surrogate modeling in CRD's Computational Cosmology Center (C3). Berkeley Lab's breadth of research and well-maintained and well-staffed computational division make it the place to be for ML4Sci research like his, says Harrington.
