I always like seeing a bit of dirty competition between some of the world's greatest social platforms.

Hitting todays headlines is Instagram taking on TikTok, it will be interesting to see how this one pans out, more information on this below.

ps. If you have 30secs it would mean the world to me if you share this email around, I spend hours weekly gathering the articles (while sinking a few schooners) to present what you see here.

TOP NEWS COOKING

Instagram Reels is here, but should TikTok be scared?

Seems like Instagram is continuing their parade of finding what's already working and implementing it into their platform - remember Instagram stories and its close relation to Snapchat?

Introducing Instagram Reels, a 15sec multi-clip video platform where you can view, edit and post videos. Apart from being an obvious TikTok clone, Reels is backed by one of the worlds the largest social media platforms Facebook.

Should we be worried? It depends, are you over seeing random teens and adults flapping their arms around in public trying to get some 'clout?' a.k.a boosting their social profile...

The Biggest differences between the two platforms:

// Instagram Reels is limited to 15sec videos, while TikTok is up to 60secs.

// You can't post duets on Instagram Reels.

// TikTok gives you audio suggestions on what it thinks you're dancing too.

// You need to be signed up to Instagram to use Reels. TikTok doesn't require an account.

Curious how you can use 'Instagram Reels' in your marketing strategy?

FROM THE GOV

Scomo is not banning TikTok (LOL)

Security agencies did the checks and it appears the Chinese owned TikTok does not pose any threats therefore won't be banned in Australia.

Now TikTok is staying around we all have more time to watch the massive amounts of cringe from Sydney radio presenters Kyle & Jackie O...sigh 😅

The real question is 'When is Scomo signing up to TikTok?' Personally, I think he would be quite good at the 'two-step'
