Spring brings new beginnings

With Western Australia in a relatively safe, happy bubble at the moment. . . our thoughts are with friends, family and colleagues on the east coast of Australia and all corners of the world, who are still suffering significant hardship as a result of the pandemic. We hope as Spring blooms for those in the southern hemisphere, that you find some respite and new beginnings.

It's reassuring to see water flowing freely along the Balingup Brook and into the beautiful Blackwood River. The hills are a lush green. Delicate rows of pink and white blossom are on display in the orchards, and the deciduous trees in the region are starting to bloom with new growth. When this happens, we know that Spring is truly upon us.

Olivia Grove

We’re so excited to have teamed up with Olivia Grove Farm, in Kirup. Formerly Maclyn Grove, Olivia Grove has recently opened - producing a range of natural skin care products, and a small selection of gourmet foods. Their focus is ‘all things olive oil’ . . however their range is constantly expanding to include fresh, nutrient dense, farm grown food.

Jann and Derek Louw laugh when they explain “we are old enough to remember when milk had cream on top, when food had unique and individual tastes that varied with the season, and when eating food provided all the nutrients that we needed to stay healthy.” They reminisce about thriving rural towns, busy small farms which were an integral part of a close knit community.  Their vision is to be one more cog in the revolution of farmers producing healthy, home-crafted, nutrient dense goods in the SW of WA! Wildflowers

We’ve been doused with an abundance of winter rain this year, and now with the change of season, wherever you look nature is flourishing! The delicate spring wildflowers that sprout once the warmer days arrive never cease to amaze.

The Balingup Racecourse Flora Reserve is one of the South West's wildflower hotspots. As the location of the old Balingup racecourse, this reserve is steeped in history and boasts an abundance of tiny wildflowers.

Even in our 25acre hilltop forest, if you slow down, stop and take the time to look, you'll find a wide variety of spectacular wildflowers at this time of year.
