Cemflo PCV cement tank livery samples

Our much anticipated Cemflo PCVs have reached the livery sample stage and after a few corrections we expect production to begin shortly.  We will announce a deadline for pre-orders in the near future and after that they will only be available at a higher retail price.

The iconic “silver queen” Cemflos were introduced in the early 1960s and withdrawn by mid-1988.  Although best known for their use on Cliffe - Uddingston trains for Blue Circle cement they also supplied a number of other locations, including Aberdeen, Dewsbury, Dundee, Grangemouth, Sunderland, and Widnes often in mixed Speedlink services with other wagon types. The last Cemflo/PCV wagons were withdrawn from service in mid-1988.

Several types of locomotives were observed hauling Cemflos during their time in service, including class 25s, class 26s, class 27s, class 31s, class 33s, class 37s, class 40s, class 45s, class 47s… even Black 5s, Jubilees, 9Fs and A4s!

Class A tanks CAD unveiled

Our Class A tanks are a logical follow-on from our well-received 35T Class B tanks in N. The CAD work on the Class A tank wagon is complete and the order book is open. This model is aimed at steam/diesel transition and BR blue era enthusiasts and shares a chassis with our award-winning Class B tank. The main difference is the longer barrel, used because the Class A tank was used for lighter fraction petro-chemicals.

We are offering versions in the initial liveries as follows: Esso silver/red; Esso grey/red; Unbranded grey/red; and Staveley Chemicals with further liveries to be confirmed (we are trying to work out the best way to offer the various weedkiller tanks run by Chipmans in red, green and black at various points).

We’ve just received the first draft CAD of the MTV/ZKV Zander box wagons which were built using the same chassis reclaimed from un-required tank wagons - once we’ve finished checking the CAD we will share images.  As well as the Class As and MTV/Zander wagons we will also re-run the more popular Class B tanks.

The Class A tanks are on sale now at £19.95 and as ever the pre-order price will offer our supporters the best value.

Expressions of Interest for second run of N gauge Pendolinos

Despite the seemingly never-ending livery variations [a new Pendolino livery was unveiled after we started this expression of interest exercise!] we’re asking people to indicate if they are interested in a second run of Pendolinos and if so which liveries.  We’re conscious that some customers missed out on the first run and that a number of new liveries have appeared since the first run but we’re not sure how great the demand is for a second run.

If you are interested in one (or more!) Pendolinos from a second run by Rapido then please let us know as soon as possible - the deadline is 30 September 2020 for expressions of interest but the sooner you let us know the better as we’re not asking for firm commitments (though we’d ask you to be realistic!) or any money at this stage! A couple of the livery options are shown below.

Expressions of Interest for N gauge Class 89

Last but definitely not least, we haven’t forgotten about the results of the expressions of interest for a Class 89 in N - we received a lot of interest in the project. We’re at the stage where we have enough interest to investigate further in terms of finalising numbers for the project though this involves more partners and will therefore take us a bit more time.  We’ll make an announcement on our website as soon as we have any news. You could say we’re badger-ing away!
Ordering process

Despite warnings on our website and in our newsletters we still get a few orders for mixed items - please do not mix different product categories on the same order - it makes it much more difficult for both you and us to track your orders as products arrive at different times.
Project news

Obviously we haven't included every project that we're working on, but if you are missing an update on your preferred project I'm afraid we can't include every project as there just isn't space, but all the latest information on each of our projects is on our website - just click on Projects.
After every newsletter we get replies or emails asking about a project not covered in the newsletter - if we’ve not included something it is generally because we’ve nothing new to tell you or show you. All the news is on our website and as ever for an overview of all our projects please look at our project table. There is a lot more information on our website that we do not have space for in a newsletter.

Best wishes and stay safe!

Mike & Ben
