World Squash Day is on October 10 every year. Clubs or federations usually organize events to celebrate our sport. This year it may be particularly challenging but it may also be a great opportunity for our sport to come out and introduce itself to the rest of the world in a different way!
During the pandemic many of us found ourselves looking for ways
to get our squash fix, which for some meant looking for any wall that may allow them to hit a ball against. The more dedicated ones practiced movement without hitting a ball (aka ghosting).
So why not do this again with a friend or maybe get more creative!
Since we can't host events in groups and many people around the world are under different restrictions so what the creator of World Squash Day, Alan Thatcher, decided to do is to bring squash out to the streets of your city.
"We launched World Squash Day in 2001 after the loss of so many squash players in the terrorist attacks of 9/11. The world stood still then, and the spread of the coronavirus has caused the same thing to happen in 2020.
That makes it all the more important for everyone involved in squash to join forces to reboot and relaunch the game.
As squash courts reopen in many countries following the COVID-19 lockdown, the sport will be relaunched in dramatic style when World Squash Day (WSD) takes place on Saturday October 10.
World Squash Day, endorsed by the World Squash Federation (WSF) and Professional Squash Association (PSA), will once again focus on all the key benefits including the fun and fitness aspects of the game." -full article here
