Dear Friend,

PMCA is proud to announce a new venture, an extension of the cultural and culinary travel we are known for. It was only a matter of time before a collection of beloved objet d’art would make it onto our platform and into our manifesto - curating meaningful and beautiful travel experiences in other cultures through food and lifestyle of the locals.

In our travel@home series of posts, writings and cooking classes, we thought the tangible was missing. But we are desperately missing touch. How can we “feel” a culture if we can’t see it and know it with our own eyes, tastes and touch?

In times of no travel, let the world come to you. Infuse your home with the rich tapestries and carpets from Berber Morocco. Each carpet is a work of art and can uplift your environment renewing your senses. Whether you are a visual person or not, these carpets and kilims have the power to put a smile on your sense of style. They don’t call them magic carpets for nothing. They inspire a sense of freedom, dreaming of far off lands and from my experience, they influence how I greet the day and maintain an artful life.

These carpets draw on ancient knowledge passed down from generations. The designs are infused with meaning and the know-how is instilled in the Berber women from when they are quite young. It’s a visual language and craft. They are free to draw on their own inspirations. No one tells them what to do. It’s innate. It is truly an ingenious way the women express themselves.

Vintage Tribal carpets from the Atlas Mountains will only go up in value. The ones we have are mostly mid-century. We will find older ones occasionally and new ones that can fit the dimensions of our modern homes. Yet, the traditional rectangular measure is woven to fit the loom and the dimensions of a traditional Riad~ a home that is built like a box within a box with a central courtyard garden to the sky. There are several tribes in the Atlas that have distinguishing characteristics in their dress, but most certainly more so in their carpets.

Bring a nomadic sense of adventure to your life, even if we can't or don't want to travel They are a picture of someone’s life woven into something tangible and useful. A story of generations. Migrations.

Now it’s time to weave your life into them. They will travel with you and it will be your turn to pass them on.

Love,

PS. I continue to curate artisan goods from near and far. Over the years of my culinary adventures, I have developed an eye. These items have risen like cream to the top of my list. Stay tuned! We will be offering a myriad of treasures, lovely and practical in various price ranges.
