Enroll Now in the #BuyLocalVermont Initiative

The Agency of Commerce & Community Development's new Buy Local Vermont program is intended to bring needed foot traffic and increase sales for local restaurants, retail stores, entertainment and performing arts venues, lodging and tourism-related businesses.

On September 8, 2020, the program will begin incentivizing purchases by giving Vermont residents $30 savings offers to be used at local Vermont businesses where they can use their funds.

You can add your business to our Buy Local directory starting now and we are strongly encouraging all interested businesses to do so before September 7 (although you will be able to add your business after that date). For information about the program and to watch an informational webinar, visit the ACCD Business Recovery Resource Center.

New Farmers Racial Equity Tool Kit

This toolkit is a starting point. It aims to orient and incite members toward preliminary consciousness-raising and direct action. This toolkit does not detail a universally applicable pathway toward resolving pervasive racialized oppression; it is an initial resource for people who are overwhelmed by the breadth and depth of the problem, and need help determining how to start dismantling racism in their communities. We hope these resources help build foundations for broader organizing in our networks, and more concrete action toward dismantling racism and reckoning with histories of racialized dispossession and violence. As always, we invite feedback and critique on the structure and content of this document; we plan to create revised versions of this resource in the future

New & Beginning Farmer Team at the USDA

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is standing up a new team that will lead a department-wide effort focused on serving beginning farmers and ranchers.

To institutionalize support for beginning farmers and ranchers and to build upon prior agency work, the 2018 Farm Bill directed USDA to create a national coordinator position in the agency and state-level coordinators for four of its agencies – Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Risk Management Agency (RMA), and Rural Development (RD).
