Staying Committed to Racial Equity...
As we examine our programmatic roots and history our team has begun to identify a series of commitments that we are determined to uphold. These commitments include direct actions we can take as a program and critical thinking practices we can use to be continuously reflective and adaptive with our work.

Our "ask" for you is feedback, reactions, or ideas you may have regarding our commitments, which you will find below.

(1) Continuously interrogate our own role and deepen our understanding of racism as it shows up in the systems we are hoping to improve (food systems, education systems, agriculture systems, etc).

(2) Encourage an equity lens among our partners and raise awareness through our communications (e.g. e-newsletter, website).

(3) Invest our staff time and resources in the development of culturally relevant materials (e.g. bilingual materials, cultural recipes, cultural celebrations).

(4) Set goals for new partnerships in BIPOC and Native American-led organizations and communities
As a result of your feedback, we hope to harness the energy and knowledge of our partners to create a movement towards a just and equitable food system.

From the Farms to the Schools
We’re so excited to see more farms getting to bring their products into schools like The Keney Park Sustainability Project, and Knox INC
Check out their story below!

Hartford Public Schools has had 3 new FoodCorps service members begin their service with them! They arrived just in time to participate in distributing greens from Knox INC. and 1500 lbs. of fresh tomatoes, corn, cucumbers and more being delivered from farmers in Windsor. This cohort of farmers from Windsor is working with the Keney Park Sustainability Project (KPSP) to bring their product into the schools. Their product was distributed at Wish Elementary.

You can find the KPSP on our farm directory and get their food on your tray!

Partner Highlights
Our partners at the CT State Department of Public Health were awarded a grant, that is funded through the USDA, to help establish the CT Farm to Early Childhood Education (ECE) program.
As a result of being selected for this grant, the first Farm to ECE task force group was formed with partners from the CT Farm to School Collaborative to explore and expand opportunities in the Farm to ECE realm.
The goal of the work is to improve access to local foods in eligible sites by expanding a comprehensive Farm to Early Care and Education Program that includes local procurement and agricultural education efforts.
