Helio friends,

I am pleased to announce that NASA has selected five Medium-Class Explorer proposals for concept studies of missions. The information gathered by these potential missions would offer us critical opportunities to understand more about our universe as well as how to better protect humans and spacecraft. After the concept studies are reviewed, we will select up to two missions for launch. Congratulations to STORM, HelioSwarm, MUSE, ARCS, and Solaris! It’s especially exciting as this will lead up to the first heliophysics MIDEX since THEMIS launched in 2007.

At the same time, I want to emphasize how exceptional all of the proposals we received were, which is an incredible credit to and reflection of the Helio community. If the community and innovation weren’t so strong, we would not have had such an unprecedented number of outstanding proposals.

I am honored to be a part of a group of innovators who continue to push the boundaries of what we know to be possible.

Please see the full press release here for more information on the selected proposals, and congratulations again!
