Dear <<First Name>>,

SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL RECOVERY MONTH!

National Recovery Month is an international observance held every September to educate people about how substance use and mental health services can enable individuals and their families to live healthy and rewarding lives. This observance celebrates the millions of people in recovery from mental health and substance use issues, reminding us that behavioral health is an essential component to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can, and do, recover.

Now in its 31st year, Recovery Month celebrates the gains made by people in recovery, and the improvements made by those who are managing other health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and heart disease.

This year, A.R.T. (Addiction Recovery Team) has created a 30-Day Challenge, with daily activities including taking a walk, reading, sharing and calling loved ones.  Please CLICK HERE to learn more about the 30-Day Challenge!

On Monday, August 31st from 6:45-8pm Safe Harbor & Paul Pratt Memorial Library hosted their Annual International Overdose Awareness Annual Candlelight Vigil at Cohasset Common.

Special Guest Speakers included Rev. Karen Bailey-Francois, Second Congregational Church, Annemarie Whilton, Chair, Safe Harbor Cohasset Coalition, and Christen Poole, Community Member. Music was performed by students Lauren Ravanesi & Mateo Reyes.

HOW PARENTS CAN SET THE STAGE FOR SUBSTANCE USE PREVENTION THIS SCHOOL YEAR

By Christine Storm, Director of Community Education, Caron, August, 2020

"When it comes to substance use, this is one area where you don’t want to let down your guard and get lax. Would you let your child play football without a helmet? Would you let them snowboard down a black diamond without a helmet? No, because you want to protect them from damaging their brain."
