Jazz Stories to Debut in September
Jazz Stories, the collection of short stories by Arthur Pfister aka Professor Arturo, is back by popular demand, to make its appearance in mid-September. The Professor describes it as a "potpourri of narrative spices" about everything from romance to funerals and all the chicanery inbetween. It's like reading a New Orleans second line in motion with the brass band leading the way. First published in 2014, the book has been out of print for a few years -- we proudly reintroduce it with a striking new cover and identity. Pre-orders welcome at www.dvillepress.com.

Our Author Lives to Tell About Staying through Hurricane Laura
Norman German, whose three novels we have published in the past 18 months, lives in Lake Charles, LA. or what is left of it after Hurricane Laura tore through the city Wednesday, August 26, as a category 4. His wife was on a trip in Europe and he decided to ride out the storm in their waterfront home. Fortunately, Norman barely made it through, but they lost most of their home and belongings. Now he really has something to write about! Our thoughts are with him and Raejean as they pick up the pieces. DVille Press owner Mary Gehman stayed through Hurricane Katrina 15 years ago in New Orleans and knows that such an experience changes one's life forever.

Sir Bone Funk:
Living Life in the
Key of Triumph
By Eddie Tebbe
Eddie Tebbe's book Sir Bone Funk: Living Life in the Key of Triumph has been entered in the 2020 San Francisco Book Festival in competition to honor the best books of the year primarily from independent publishers or self-published writers. Industry experts judge entries on their "general excellence and the author's passion for telling a good story" as well as "the potential of the work to reach a wider audience." Tebbe's collection of stories, poetry, lyrics and a screen play speak to his love of popular N.O. music in coping with cerebral palsy and Huntington's disease. We wish him well in this national competition.

Nunez Community College Uses The Free People of Color of N.O. in History Course
Our classic book by Mary Gehman, The Free People of Color of New Orleans: An Introduction (1994) is used every semester by Ron Chapman in his popular course of Louisiana History at Nunez Community College south of New Orleans. He reports that in this time of online learning, students enjoy how the book opens up their own family or community's history and generates provocative class discussion. Teachers can contact us via the website for student rates for ordering this and other DVille Press titles
