We have just completed a winter unlike any we have experienced before in New Zealand.
For a start, it was proceeded by a nationwide lockdown and a global pandemic! Then, just when we thought lockdown was over and done with, we had round two to contend with.
Normally, we would all be coming to the end of winter sports seasons and would have been training and playing for months.
But, that is not the case this year. Many sports seasons have been cut short or delayed and training was not able to take place as usual. Part of that meant that you also couldn’t get the massages and treatments you had been used to.
Add to that, the work from home environment and many that we saw recently have had messed up backs, necks and shoulders from wrong work heights.
Luckily, this article brings good news! Optihealth is back up and running after level 3 (round two) and is fully operational in our revamped premises!

Renovations are Complete
We would love to show you our completed renovations the next time you come to the clinic! Not one original wall remains in the place, and we have fantastic new clinic spaces as well as some great new touches like the Exfoliation Room and Infrared Spa Room (that one is due to open in late winter).
Our full team is still on deck, so you can book to see Iain, Share, Paulina, Mary, Cecelia or Kris at a time that is convenient for you. Yashica will become our full time Pysio and will be ACC registered. You can come and see us between 6.15am and 9:45pm Sunday to Thursday to Sunday and 6.15am and 4:30pm on Fridays.
We are excited to announce that our renovation have meant that Optihealth is fully wheelchair friendly now. We have ramp access, widened door frames, grab rails and fully kitted out disabled toilet and shower facilities.
Coupled with our planned hoist and experienced staff, we are able to cater to all body types and abilities. Mobility is not an issue at all with our newly renovated premises.

Exciting New Developments
Part of renovating the building meant that we could include some exciting new treatment spaces. Not only can you still get the massage services you know and love, but we also be offering shortly an Exfoliation Room and Infrared Spa too. Our Infrared Spa is due to open in late spring, so keep an eye out for the details.
In our Exfoliation Room, we use our own unique scrub blend. It is known to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, plus remove liver spots and ageing spots. We have a fine grade scrub for sensitive areas like the face, and a coarser grade scrub for other areas of the body.
We will also be offering beauty services like facials. But don’t worry, Iain won’t be carrying out the facials! We have an excellent therapist who is far more skilled in these areas.

Father's Day
Dads are pretty awesome, but they can be useless when it comes to doing things that take care of themselves! So, why not give Dad a treat this Father’s Day and get him a massage or two. Often, Dads think they don’t need a massage, but regardless of whether he does a physical job or a desk job, it is important for him to look after his body.
Afterwards, he will realise what he has been missing out on for so long!
For someone who has not had massages regularly, we recommend a weekly appointment to correct any poor posture or alignment. Then, moving down to monthly sessions after that, to keep the body operating as it should.

Cool New Developments
While we haven’t been able to massage our amazing clients during level 3, we have still been busy! Recently we celebrated our business birthday. Optihealth is now 11 years old. We have more than 13,000 clients that we service and are just about to complete our 64,000th session!
We are working on a loyalty programme! That means if you are a regular customer, you will enjoy some great rewards after purchasing a number of services with us. We are just working out the kinks in this and will be ready to announce the details soon.
Don’t forget that If you had a booking scheduled during level 3, we will certainly still honour that. It is super simple to change the date. Simply click the link in the email you received when your booking was confirmed or in the reminder email and you can go straight to our diary for rebooking.
Also, don’t forget you can also get a free massage on your birthday! You just need to pop in and see us on the day of your birthday with your photo ID. Oh, and you have to have visited us at least once in the year preceding to qualify.
Pssst… if you haven’t been in to see us within a year of your birthday, you can pop in and pay for your first session, then redeem your birthday voucher for a free session after that!

Meet Some Of The Team
Because we are open and rearing to go as of Monday 31st August (with the movement to level 2), we wanted to have our awesome team on hand. We’d love for you to know two of them a little better:
Yashica: New to the team, Yashica is a qualified Physiotherapist who has just completed her Masters in Physiotherapy. We are really excited to have her physiotherapy expertise on the team! She will start initially as a Massage Therapist awaiting her registration
Paulina: Our clients are super lucky to have access to Paulina’s expertise in pregnancy. In fact, Paulina even has techniques that help families conceive. If you book to see her 6 months before you are looking to conceive, she can use her techniques to improve blood flow for both the prospective Mum and Dad, making conception easier. She can also aide in pregnancy care for a safe and healthy pregnancy, and even be present in the delivery room if required.
