The Rev. Dr. Diana Akiyama, M.Div., Ph.D
Elected 11th Bishop of Oregon

Dear Family of God at St. Mark's:

It is my pleasure to announce that The Rev. Dr. Diana Akiyama, Vicar of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau, Hawaii, has been elected to be the 11th Bishop of the Diocese of Oregon on the second ballot by a special virtual Electing Convention of the Diocese of Oregon this morning.

Our delegates to the Electing Convention were David & Debra McFadden and Bon Wille. I also voted as a priest canonically resident in the Diocese of Oregon. Election testimonials are now being gathered from convention participants and notice of the election will be forwarded to all Bishops and Standing Committees for their consent, a majority of which is required for election.

It needs to be said that it was the opinion of all of those whom I talked to that any one of the four candidates would have been an excellent bishop for our diocese. We wish those not elected well in their ministries. We will add Bishop-elect Diana to our Prayers of the People and I invite you to add her to yours.

Blessings,

-- Tom+
