Issue 18

Hello <<First Name>>,

"For where two or three meet in my name, I shall be there with them."

Powerful words. Powerful meaning.

Powerful things happen when we come together - whether in person or virtually, as has been the case in recent months.

Whomever we may gather with this week and for whatever reason, may we recognise Christ in the other and treasure that encounter.

Continue to gather safely and sensibly. Remind those who you encounter about this e-letter and encourage others to sign up here so they too can be connected.

Check out the Greystones Parish and Kilquade Parish websites during the week for information too.

WEEKEND LITURGY

23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Our Gospel reading this weekend has some harsh dimensions and most likely it reflects not so much the teaching of Jesus directly but the practices in the church for which Matthew was writing. People who refuse to acknowledge their
failures are to be treated as pagans and tax collectors!  But just how are pagans and tax collectors treated by Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew? They are welcomed and forgiven! Any permanent exclusion is to be resisted on the example and teaching of Jesus himself.
(adapted from a reflection on the Gospel by Fr. Kieran O’Mahony OSA www.tarsus.ie)

Tune in to the webcam before 11:30am Mass to hear the welcome.
The Scripture readings are available daily and for Sunday.

Attending Mass
A reminder to all that booking is essential for attending all masses. As we continue to gather for Mass, please see details here which will help continue to make it a positive and prayerful encounter for all present.
We Can’t Do It Without Your Help…
We need people to help welcome and gather people at each Mass as they arrive and as they leave and these then to help sanitise and prepare the space after each Mass in order to have it ready for the next liturgy taking place. If you can give some time, even once a month, please complete this form and we will be in touch with you. Thank you.
SACRAMENTAL CEREMONIES
Congratulations to those from Kilcoole Primary School and St. Brigid's National School who will make their First Holy Communion this weekend. Congratulations to those from St. Kevin's National School and St. Laurences National School who will be confirmed in their faith this week. Please remember them all in your prayers.

The Sacramental ceremonies for the parishes of Greystones and Kilquade are being live streamed so as to enable family members, who cannot be physically present in the church for the ceremonies due to COVID 19 restrictions, to take part in a meaningful way.

The Season of Creation has a special significance for the Catholic Church, particularly since Pope Francis established 1 September as an annual World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. The Season of Creation or Creation Time, is marked throughout the Christian world from 1 September to 4 October (Feast of St. Francis of Assisi) and celebrates the joy of creation as well as encouraging awareness-raising initiatives to protect the natural environment.
