9 seats in the PA House + 4 seats in the PA Senate = Democratic Majority in Harrisburg
REPRESENTATIVE MELISSA SHUSTERMAN (D, HD 157)
In 2018, Melissa Shusterman was the first candidate that P&E endorsed for PA House. She flipped her seat from Red to Blue. In 2020, we are proud to repeat that endorsement.
*Representative Shusterman is the first freshman legislator to be appointed deputy whip.
*She worked to move legislation on gun violence reform, fair districts, government transparency, safe elections and reproductive rights across the aisle.
*Since the onset of COVID-19, Representative Shusterman has worked to get caregivers free public transportation and gas stipends and fought to make sure gig workers receive unemployment compensation.

*Pennsylvania is suing the U.S. Postal Service and its leader, joining about 20 other states. They are fighting to prevent mail delays that have already left residents across the state unable to access critical services andthreatened the vote-by-mail system.
*PA Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar has asked the state’s Supreme Court for “extraordinary” helpin vote-by-mail cases, and to extend the state deadlinefor mail-in ballots, allowing any ballot postmarked by Election Day to be counted.
*A federal judge has ordered a stay in the Trump campaign’s lawsuit seeking to ban mailed ballot drop boxes and other changes to PA’s election procedure.
*There aretwo petitions pending in PA Commonwealth Court, and ballots cannot be printed until these cases are resolved. Due to this delay, ballots might not be mailed to voters until late September.
HAVE YOU REQUESTED YOUR MAIL-IN BALLOT?
The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is October 27, but it is critical that voters apply ASAP.
*Any registered voter in PA canrequest a mail-in ballot. Note: If you want a no-excuse mail-in ballot, as opposed to an absentee ballot, answer “NO” to the first three questions on the application.
*If you have already requested a mail-in ballot, you can track the status of your ballot here.
*There is continuing uncertainty regarding voting drop-boxes, Board of Elections satellite offices and ballot postmarks. We will share details about how to return your ballot as soon as there is accurate, up-to-date information. You can also get current information online at Votes PA.
