Dear Friends of Clare County Arts Council,

The deadline to do a banner has been extended to September 3. You still have time to get your creative juices going for this project. Banners will be on display in Downtown Clare during September and October. This is a partnership between the Clare Area Chamber of Commerce and Clare County Arts Council. A big shout out to Angie at the Clare County Cleaver. She gave the story front page coverage. More details are listed below.  

The deadline to create your own Pokemon character is Tuesday, September 1. There are different age groups. Voting will take place on September 19. 

Also the Amish Auction is scheduled for September 4 & 5 on Leaton Rd, Clare, Michigan. 

Applications have been sent to previous vendors for the CCAC craft show. It is scheduled for October 31 at the Clare Union Railroad Depot. Linda Guiliani is in charge of this event. Contact her if you have questions at 989.240.2470. There is a limit on the number of tables. Social distancing will be practiced.  

CCAC is looking for artist who would like to display their items at the Clare Union Railroad Depot. The Artist receives 80% of the item and CCAC receives 20%. If you are interested, please contact Carol at cjsantini72@gmail.com or 989.386.3925.

Ongoing and Upcoming

Fall Banners
CCAC is partnering with the Clare Area Chamber of Commerce to do a Fall themed street poll banner. These banners will be hung downtown Clare starting September 22 to October 31. Artist will pay $100 per banner. Artist will design your art work on a 11 x 17 card stock template. This art work can be any medium, as long as it is flat. (it will be run through a scanner). The banner will have your name on it and a sponsor if you have one. Then on October 31, these banners if desired, would be auctioned off. The artist would keep 80% of the sale price. There is a possibility of 44 banners and 6 people have reserved their banner. Get your creative juices going. Please share this information with other artist. Create your own Pokemon Go
Clare Area Chamber of Commerce wants you to create your own Pokemon Go character. You have until September 1 to turn in your creation to the Clare Area Chamber of Commerce. There are different age groups. On September 19, they will be on display at the Clare Union Railroad Depot. People will be able to vote on the best design. Voting ends at 3.  Contact the Chamber at 989.386.2442.

Christmas Cards with Cat
September 10 from 1-3:30 you will received supplies for 6 different cards. (2 cards of 3 different designs). Cost is $15. Bring your own adhesives and scissors. Sign up at the Pere Marquette Library. 

Make and Gift Stocking
On September 23 from 1-4 you can make a stocking to be given away to a person in need this Christmas. Bring your own sewing machine and materials. A pattern will be provided. Contact the Pere Marquette Library for more details. 

3rd Annual Taste of Clare
Will be held September 19 from 4-8. Cost is $10. Tickets will be available soon at Clare Chamber of Commerce.  

Cards with Carol H
will be held on Thursday, September 24 from 1-3. Cost is $10 for 6 cards. Register at Pere Marquette Library. 

Free Kids Crafts
Are available at Pere Marquette Library. Stop by and pick up a bag to take home. 

Sunflower Days
Will be held at the Wild Pumpkin Patch located on Beaverton Road on September 5 & 6, 12 & 13 from 10-7. Admission is $5 a person. Their regular season will begin on September 19 and go until October 31. Their hours will be 10-7

Mary Carole Oil Painting Seminar
will be held on October 5th-11 at the Doherty Hotel in Clare. On October 4 starting at 4, Mary Carole will be doing a free painting demonstration. 
Starting October 5-7 you will paint the "Painted Pony" (16 x 20) and Girl and Ducks (16 x 20). Cost $255
October 8-11 will be a four day portrait seminar. Cost $255.

Pere Marquette Library Book Club
The next meeting will be September 22. The book selection is "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn." For October the book is the "Giver of Stars" by JoJo Moyes


Mid Michigan Art Reach 

Auction for the Arts
Art Reach will be having their auction on line this year. Bidding opens Wednesday, September 23. You will be able to preview selected art starting September 10 at Art Reach in Mt Pleasant. 

Mid Michigan College 
September 15, from 5:30-8:30 you will paint a Mason Jar painting. Cost is $35.

Artist Welding starts September 29 at the Harrison campus. This is a 5 week class from 6-9. Cost $105. 

Michigan Acrylic Pour will be held on October 21 from 5:30-7:30 cost is $49

Tango basics will be held at More Flex High School on October 8 starting at 6 pm

Swing Basics will be held at Shepherd HS starting November 5.

Morning Market at 501
This was a popular event last year. Local vendors will be selling their goods. Due to social distancing, there will not be as many vendors, but it will be a great event. The last date is September 12. It will be held from 9-1 and located at 501 McEwan Street, Clare 

Harrison City Market
Now open and currently looking for vendors. They are open Saturday 10-3 and Sunday 12-3. The Market is located at 121 E Main Street, Harrison. Please call Debbie at 989.330.9561 for more details. 

Farwell Farmer's Market

Yoder's Amish Auction 
is scheduled for September 4 & 5 starting at 9. 10885 N. Leaton Rd, Clare

Quilt Block Painting
CCAC is once again offering you the opportunity to paint your own 2 x 2 quilt block. This class will be from noon to 1 on October 13.  You will have the choice of two designs and four colors to choose from. Cost is $50 which includes all your materials. Call Vicky to register at 989.289.8235

Craft Show
CCAC has scheduled a craft show for Oct. 31, to be held at the Clare Union Depot. CCAC will be sending out applications for this event. Social distancing will be practices and as of now, masks will be required.  
Please continue to support the arts in Clare County including various events and activities by sending in your donation for 2020.  We ask for $10, an amount unchanged from past years but appreciate the many generous donations we receive over and above that amount.

The Arts Council is in the lower level of the Clare Depot, which is also the home of the Clare County Chamber of Commerce. We are located at 201 W. Fourth St. in the City of Clare, one block west of McEwan.
