Move to Phase 4 coming despite increased cases
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services announced Aug. 26 that the 66 counties -- including Seward -- that are in Phase 3 of the state's reopening plan will move into Phase 4 on Sept. 14 unless hospitalization numbers change "dramatically."

As of Aug. 28, the total of COVID-19 cases has increased by 16 in the Four Corners District:

Seward County has eight new cases for a total of 178 cases, and 100 have recovered.
Butler County has seven new cases for 85 cases total, and 57 have recovered.
York County has one new case to total 112, and 80 have recovered.
Polk County remains at 30 cases total, and 23 have recovered.

The total cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the Four Corners District is 405, and 260 of those have recovered.

Softball

Seward goes 2-1 and finishes second in the Seward Invitational Saturday, losing to Bennington 4-3 in the finals. Centennial goes 0-3 on the day at Seward. Malcolm ends 1-2 at the LPS Invite.

Golf

The Seward girls were third at their home invitational Friday. Breanna Placke placed sixth to lead the Bluejays.
