NTVLC news

Hi Everyone,
Another two months and......more of the same just this time in face masks!
We will not be able to meet face to face even outside, although maybe that will change on Sunday when Premier Dan announces his roadmap to exiting stage four and three restrictions.
Anywho, lets just assume we can't and get on with having our AGM via zoom. We will make it short and sweet, do the necessary and log off.
Lets meet again in person as soon as we can, have a farm walk/bbq/bird monitoring/pub dinner or whatever we decide but for now keep our house in order the most expedient way possible.
cheers
Jill (secretary)

Bird Monitoring

Is on hold until restrictions ease. However...
you can still as individuals walk on the rail trail, and as the sites are public, record a bird survey. Our sign is in place on the rail trail at the Blackspur Creek confluence, so you can use the QR codes to get the Birdata app on your phone and find the site. See the photo of Sue and Gary and the sign at the head of this newsletter.

Our Virtual Farm Walk video

Check out our video! We made you a video so you can come on a virtual farm walk to see all the projects big and small our members have been working on this year. Well done to everyone who is using lockdown to get some work done around the district!
Here's our treasurer Coral and past president, Kevin

Coral and Kevin Hughes were interviewed by the WGCMA

When we think about Kevin and Coral...only one-word springs to mind...amazing!

Kevin and Coral have been planting trees for more than 60 years on their South Gippsland farm - and the results are phenomenal. Those who know South Gippsland, know that it can be pretty windy (and cold...often wet...) and these trees have formed not only shelter belts for stock, but also wildlife corridors.

Kevin and Coral tell their story in an episode of Gippslandscapes - check it out here

Threatened Species Bake Off

Remember last year I made you an antichinus cake?
Well the year before I made a orange bellied parrot and the year before that a Giant Gippsland Earthworm
I can't make you a cake this year, so you are going to have to bake and share your own. Link here

Whether in the ponderous form of a River Red Gum or the towering majesty of a Mountain Ash, eucalypts define the character of the Australian bush. No other tree is so synonymous with the nature of our continent. Remember The Wild is proud to present Eucalypt – a five-part documentary series about these essential trees.

The Eucalypt series explores these trees’ evolution and ecology, their intimate connection with Indigenous Australians, their role in art and craftsmanship, and their future in a changing world.

These films tell the story of the tree and the continent that shaped one another. Watch Eucalypt, and rediscover an Australian icon.

A series of videos discussing the principles of regenerative agriculture have been produced.
Hosted by Declan McDonald - certified professional soil scientist (CPSS), this 8 part video series investigates the key principles of Regenerative Agriculture. Focusing on farms in Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula Region, this video series is a collaboration between Bass Coast Landcare Network, Mornington Peninsula Shire, South Gippsland Landcare Network and Western Port Catchment Landcare Network. This project is supported by Bass Coast Landcare Network, South Gippsland Landcare Network, Mornington Peninsula Shire and Western Port Catchment Landcare Network through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program and Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority
