Greetings,
UACC's Frank Foster Memorial Library is full of poems, stories, photographs, articles, etc. that discuss many aspects of Appalachian culture and social issues that have and still influence people of Appalachia today. We've been getting positive feedback from the UACC community with our weekly posts on our Facebook pages, and many are curious about reading some of the contents in the library. Are you curious, too? Learn more about the library and the work UACC intern, Shannon Gillie, is doing to bring the library to life in the 21st Century in this week's blog post below.
Additionally, preview what's to come about UACC's Research Committee's Coronavirus data and research in the Core Column, catch up with some of the amazing things happening for poet and Core Member Pauletta Hansel and her poetry, and read more about UACC's Featured Artist of the Week!
Sincerely,
UACC

UACC Research Committee's August Covid-19 Research
Similar to June and July's Coronavirus research and data collection done by the Research Committee, August's data also looks at the Cincinnati Health Department's tracking of how Coronavirus has affected various neighborhoods, ages, genders and races since March 23. However, this time, Research Committee member, Mike Maloney, also observed anomalies within the data as well as monitoring testing sites in different sections of the city.
After the Research Committee shared their findings with different community groups, they were able to help the Holy Family testing site (which tested ~700 people) get masks donated by P&G. They continue to look for ways to use the research to advocate and help those communities that are often under-represented and under-funded.
