Ready to expand your current knowledge and skills required of a nonprofit professional? Looking to explore entry into the field?

Our Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management (CNLM) offers an exceptional learning experience that explores a disciplined view of self, the organizations in which nonprofit professionals operate, and the current overall environment of the Texas Nonprofit Sector.

Our 300 + graduates over the past 14 years, and their advancements in the nonprofit arena, are testimony to the quality and value of our program. Just ask any one of them!

This year's participants will have the opportunity to explore ways to achieve an anti-racist sector and society – in keeping with the principles CNS adopted in June. Almost every session will address the challenge of heightening consciousness about racial inequities and growing social justice. With these principles in mind, we welcome and encourage People of Color to apply to this transformative program.

The incoming Class of 2021 will participate virtually starting with an orientation on September 9th. CNLM is an 8-month program with classes beginning on September 11, 2020, and closing on April 19, 2021. Take a look at our comprehensive syllabus and class schedule to learn more about individual sessions of the program.

Early applicants are eligible for a limited number of scholarships!

Only one week remains to submit your application -- application deadline is September 2, 2020!

Join us NEXT THURSDAY at 10 AM for an enlightening conversation with Meme Styles, the President and Founder of the award-winning nonprofit MEASURE. In this last episode of the series, Ms. Styles will share how data is often not effectively or collaboratively used within the social justice ecosystem and provide ideas on what we can do to correct this reality as we all work together to create equitable change and increased awareness.

This season on Civil Society, we are seeking to elevate the stories of people of color in our community through a series of special live and virtual episodes. We are immensely proud of the first series of the season that focused on 'The Black Experience in Austin.' Thank you to those who have joined us and have been an active part of the conversation!

In the weeks ahead we look to shift our focus to the Latinx community and its vibrant history and culture within our city. Stay tuned for more news about this new series in the weeks ahead!

In the meantime, catch-up on thought-provoking perspectives and discussions you may have missed! That's right, the first four episodes of the season are now up on our website. Click on the images below to view past episodes and we hope you will continue to join us for the important conversations yet to come.

Civil Society is guided by CNS' Racial Equity Statement as of June 15, 2020. Through this program, we aim to heighten consciousness, educate and motivate personal and organizational change by incorporating a racial equity lens in our understanding and provide an appreciation of our diverse community.

'The Black Experience in Austin' series will be followed by a similar series on the Latinx Experience in Austin, the Asian Experience in Austin, and the Native American Experience in Austin. We welcome recommendations on topics and people to interview for these series. Email: bsilverb@austincc.edu.

Invention
by Shel Silverstein

I've done it, I've done it!
Guess what I've done!
Invented a light bulb that plugs
 into the sun.

The sun is bright enough
The bulb is strong enough,
But, oh,
there's only one thing wrong ….

The cord ain't long enough.
