Principal News

Hi  <<First Name>>,
Kia ora

The school is going ahead with the cross country on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Spa Park. We have had to make some changes to our organisation to follow the Level 2 COVID-19 health guidelines. In order to keep the number of people below 100, there will only be one year group at Spa Park at a time. We have altered the races times to allow for this to occur.

Information for Year 3 to Year 6 - Aratiatia and Te Mihi Teams
  • Races will continue even if it is raining.
  • All year 3 to 6 students will travel by bus to and from Spa Park. The students will not be staying at Spa Park to watch any other races. They will arrive at Spa Park, run their race, and then return back to school.
  • Please make sure your child has a change of clothes to run in and warm clothes to wear while they are at Spa Park. If your child gets wet, they can get changed into their school uniform after they are back at school.
  • If your child is unable to run in the school cross country, they must give a note from a parent or caregiver to their teacher providing a reason why they can not participate in the cross country race.
Information for Year 1 to Year 2  - Ohaaki and Pohipi Teams
  • Depending on the weather we may cancel the cross country for Rooms 10,11,13, and 14 students. If the decision to cancel is made, a text will be sent out to the parents of these classes.
  • Poihipi Team will not be participating in the cross country. They will be having a bear hunt later in the term.
If you volunteered to help as a race marshall and Mr Morehu contacted you about this, make sure you are there on time for the race. Mr Morehu will touch base with you again before Thursday to see if you can still help with changes to the race timetable.

Parents can come and watch the races. You must stay down by the finish line in an area provided and use the QR code logging your attendance. So the school can trace, who is at the event, parents must sign in at the finish line. You can also download the NZ COVID-19 Tracer app on your phone and scan the school’s QR code at the finish line.

For parents wanting to take their child home after their race, you must find Mrs Foley at the event who will be wearing a high vis jacket.
